Soapbox is excellent for meeting management - it helps propose an agenda and questions to kick off one on ones. This is very helpful for managers who need a little nudge when asking the right questions to move the meeting forward. This is where the Soapbox structure serves well. If you need more complex software to handle custom processes, you may need to look elsewhere.

Vidyard

Vidyard is best used for 1:1 sales videos. Because the video is very personal and raw, they don't perform great in a big marketing email blast, although it certainly can be used that way if you need. If you have a brief message that you want to get across, and entice a prospect to watch your video, it's very easy to have a short GIF with a smiling face and a wave in your email so that you get your prospect to view your video

  • Data: being able to see who watched the video, for how long, where they live, and how these things change over time is incredibly useful.
  • Interactivity: being able to gate videos or add a call to action in one central place is great.
  • Easy hosting: once a video is uploaded to Vidyard you can post it in multiple channels but make changes in one central place, so it makes it very easy to keep track of assets.

  • The Vidyard UI can be difficult to navigate and the concept of a player requires extensive effort to understand.
  • Vidyard allows clipping the beginning and end of videos but does not provide an undo option if a mistake is made. This requires re-recording the video if part of a sentence was mistakenly cut off.
  • Vidyard's video clipping tool is difficult to use and it's hard to tell how much you'll be cutting from the beginning or end of a video which results in repeated adjustments to prevent losing an important part of the video.

There's a few bits of set-up I'd recommend speaking to an expert partner for (like us!) like setting up your landing page, calls-to-action, understanding how best to embed the videos (best practice rather than technical), and some practical tips for getting your people over the fear of doing videos in the first place. There is a great short campaign that we use to help everyone become proficient and skilled at creating great videos, that take less time than typing an email.

It performs very well. I have never had any bugs while recording, and none of the videos have been impaired or corrupted. I don't believe it integrates with any other software but you could contact the company to learn more. I am not sure if it is only available on Chrome.

We haven't had the chance to reach out to Wistia about Soapbox support, but I know Wistia (as a brand) is epic on all fronts -- sales, marketing & support. So if I had the need to reach out, I'm sure I'd get a reply in a prompt and satisfactory manner.

I first heard of Vidyard at a marketing conference (INBOUND 2019). I was impressed with the team working at the booth. They were friendly, helpful, and they were able to really show me how Vidyard could help our specific company. I took all that information to the owners when I got back from the conference and it was an easy sell. Since the very beginning, I felt like we were in good hands. We had great people working with us and helping us get everything set up. When there was a new account manager, she reached out (via video message of course) and made it clear that she was happy to help us with whatever we needed.

It's pretty straightforward. The bulk of the work goes on outside of Vidyard - it's the time required to add different videos to your website - that was probably the only difficult part and had nothing to do with Vidyard.

Where Zoom and GoToMeeting focus on the meeting itself, Soapbox goes more in-depth and gives the structure that a lot of managers are looking for. In my case, it was the question prompts, shared meeting notes, and meeting feedback that provided the most value. Seeing changes to agenda and notes in real-time is also very helpful.

I've never evaluated another product like Vidyard. I just used screen recordings with RingCentral before, and I remember the file size being very large and having to add the video as an attachment. So this was a major improvement to be able to shoot videos and easily share with my clients.

  • We are able to trigger other marketing campaigns based on the results we see from Vidyard, which we weren't able to do before
  • Figuring out the exact value is not as easy as it should be because of the way you pull reports from Vidyard.
