What is Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams combines video conferencing software with team collaboration tools. The communications platform allows MS Office users to conduct conference calls and share files via SharePoint, and join or initiate a group chat.

Microsoft Teams features three tiers of pricing. The first is a subscription-less, free option that offers the same features as the other two tiers but does not offer administration tools like analytics and access to on-premise servers, or support features like 24/7 phone and web support. The second and third tiers are based on the size of your business and its conferencing needs. Its “Office 365 Business Premium” option starts at $12.50 a month per user, with a required annual commitment, and its “Office 365 E3” option for enterprises starts at $20 a month per user, also with a required annual commitment.

Key Features
Meetings: Meet with teams of 10 or 10,000. Host audio, video, and web conferences with anyone inside or outside your organization or go big with live events.

Calling: Its Phone System feature enables PBX capabilities including call control in Office 365 and replaces on-premises PBX. Its calling features are customizable to fit your organization’s unique needs.

USE: MS Teams is used as main communication tool in my organisation
Problem: Simple problem to address to provide seamless communication and collaboration, but it fails to solve it, but adds more problem
SCOPE: Daily communication, which is currently not working.
I don't think it solve the problem it was built to solve. It exaggerates the problem and introduces more problems. If I ever get a chance to decided what to purchase I will remove MS Teams from my list.

MS Teams were able to address our connection with our colleagues who are not able to use our current platform since it is a competitor of the client they are supporting. Being in governance, I need to be able to reach everyone where ever they are located so this is the best option I have.
  • It does not consume to much bandwidth based on number of participants
  • It has easy navigation for use
  • It can work on mobile
  • Provide more background choices during meetings
  • Have an easy access button for help options
  • Provide description on the icons available on the interface
It is well suited if your organization is using the MS platform (email is Outlook). The platform is not for new users (needs to be highly computer literate).

I use Microsoft Teams as my workplace communication tool in a large healthcare organization. I can communicate quickly and effectively with my supervisor and fellow colleagues about confidential customer data and know it is secure. It is easy to connect with colleagues working at branches in different Australian states. Professional development webinars, held live across multiple Australian states at regular times, are easily supported on this platform with over 30-40+ users watching a single stream at one time. Integrates well with Microsoft Outlook which is used concurrently at work.
  • Real-time updated Microsoft Teams status of other users (i.e. immediate status changes of 'online', 'away', and 'busy' amongst all healthcare organization computers).
  • Integration with Microsoft Outlook is excellent - workplace meeting invitations accepted on Outlook will synchronize with Microsoft Teams automatically and allow easy viewing (e.g. accepted Outlook invite to video teaching session will be integrated into Microsoft Teams calendar).
  • Aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly interface - easy to initiate workplace 'chats' with staff present on a particular day.
  • Integrating a crop tool to edit screenshots sent over Microsoft Teams would be useful! Currently have to use the Paint app first.
  • Having a wider range of GIFs and emoticons available for use on the platform.
  • Intermittent problems with connectivity soon after password changes for 2-3 days. Requires manual login however Microsoft Teams soon synchronizes with the new password.
Microsoft Teams is useful for workplace communication in my healthcare organization. I need to be able to communicate with my boss about clinical imaging and can easily share chest x-ray images via the screenshot function with her. Other user interfaces would have difficulty processing these images. Given data within healthcare is usually confidential, Microsoft Teams is excellent for allowing me to communicate data with colleagues whilst maintaining confidentiality (compared to using private text messaging, Whatsapp).

We are using Microsoft Teams for Team collaboration. We are using this tool for meetings, team catch ups, remote happy hours etc. Microsoft team is most widely used collaboration software. It has different applications for project management as well. We can manage task boards to track the progress of tasks, we are also having regular training sessions on Teams. Everything is super easy to use. No special training is required to use it. It's connected to Microsoft 365 applications. It's not that costly as well. So it's suitable for all the companies or individual use cases.
  • Virtual meetings
  • Project Collaboration
  • Remote Connectivity
  • Availability - These days there are many Microsoft outages reported throughout the world. Something needs to be done as soon as possible in this case.
  • Notifications are little less user friendly and needs some improvement
  • Noise cancellation feature is excellent but not that user friendly
Microsoft Teams can be used for team Collaborations at all level, but search feature in other products (like slack) are better. If your use case needs extensive search through chat history, you should try something else.

I use it for all types of communication. Internal and external too. Used for file sharing and serves the purpose of SharePoint.
  • Communication across user base.
  • Servers as sharepoint.
  • Supports connection to onedrive
  • Not found anything to date.
I am not giving it 10/10 only for a reason that it can bring more enhancements besides nothing missing from it as per my use.

We used Microsoft Teams to communicate internally and externally with staff and students. We love the ease of use despite the learning curve necessary to feel completely comfortable with the software. Students and staff alike have taken to using this platform for both asynchronous instruction and live video instruction. We would recommend this platform for anyone seeking these tools.
  • Messaging
  • Video lessons
  • Group communications
  • Training
  • Management of 'expired' groups
  • Website support
Teams is best suited for school settings but businesses may find the communication tools useful as well. We found Teams to be the most useful for us in the ability to group staff and students in ways that allowed us to communicate the needs to those groups specifically. Teams is not so great about things like surveys or other means of realtime feedback.

We are hybrid model. Each one of us can schedule meetings, calling and video conferencing each other at no cost to us. When we are in office, Microsoft Teams are instant messaging system. We use it to evaluate our project and high five to those who have done a great job. It makes us feel appreciated. What's more, we are a team and that feels good. It saves our time. We become more transparent to each other. We are staying connected more than ever.
  • casual chat
  • team meetings
  • quick evaluation and appraisal
  • share information and planning projects
  • More choice of background
  • More emoji's
  • More video clips to show how to use it beyond a team collaboration tool
When teams are scattered across the country, Microsoft Teams by itself means collaboration and team work. Also the team space is a great area that each department can have their own issues discussed and shared. However, it may not be an effective tool when Internet connection is not stable. Perhaps in the urban areas would be best while in the rural areas, e.g. the west and prairies..

We use it to livestream classes, host meetings, as our main phone service, and to communicate with students and other faculty by messages.
  • Video conferencing
  • Microsoft forms
  • Voting
  • Sharing screen
  • Displaying multiple things at once, i.e. participants, chat, main screen, etc.
  • Notifications. Currently, there are multiple notifications for the same thing, such as a phone call. They could be put in one place
  • There could be a frequently used teams window.
It is particularly well-suited for tele-conferencing. It is not as suitable as a replacement of the e-mail systems.

We use it everyday for our regular meetings and workplace updates. Brings the entire office together virtually as akin to real life as possible.
  • Easy to use interface
  • Easy to create and manage multiple teams and offices
  • A bit clunky sometimes
  • The meetings have a maximum screen capacity so you can't view everyone all at once
Good for big teams (even though meetings aren't the best quality for big groups) - smaller teams might not find all the options and services useful.

We used this program the most during the pandemic period. It helped me to connect with my teammates in their internal work when working from home.
  • Easy connection
  • Clear picture and sound
  • Time to time it gives login error even with correct password.
  • In cases where there is more than one person physically present in the same environment at a meeting, you cannot individually lower your voice.
  • Why can't we create a channel?
In general, it is a good application for business meetings. I have been using it continuously for the last 2 years. I find them better than Zoom.

All team members use Microsoft Teams for communication and collaboration, to set up meetings, to conduct presentations to store and share important documents, etc. We find the application meets all our requirements, as it's easy to use, convenient, it's simple to take on board new enhancements and our capabilities are increasing all the time. It's a Godsend, and we couldn't cope without it. Its seamless interaction with other Microsoft products helps too.
  • It makes it easy to collaborate in meetings.
  • Its brilliant as a presentation tool.
  • Its great for storing documents and works brilliantly with Sharepoint.
  • It could be a bit better connected with outside applications.
As aforementioned it's a brilliant communication and collaborative tool, for small or large meetings. It is great for presentations and for disseminating information while its storage facility is also great.

Microsoft Teams has completely improved our team's workflow. We are far more productive collaborating now then we've ever been.

At my company, we use Teams primarily to instant message one another across the entire organization. If you need a quick answer it is preferable to email. We also use it however to store and share documents. It is also great at taking and organizing notes. It also has task board functionality.
  • Integrates with Outlook and SharePoint
  • Instant messaging
  • Stores documents and notes
  • Hard to tell if someone is actually "away"
  • Missing some Lync functionality
  • Hard to find in SharePoint where docs are kept
Great instant messaging tool. It does a lot more than that too. You can call, screenshare, and store documents in a linked SharePoint site. Integration with Outlook means you can see who's available and who may be out of office before sending them an email. I like having the mobile app on my phone to stay connected.

In the chatbot. The messages were not aligned to all the viewers. Like whom is the 1st, 2nd and so on. Because there were times there's a game, on my view I was the 1st. But on others, I was not. I wish all the messages are same in all users/viewers.
  • good quality of audio and video
  • tools that needed during meeting
  • sync in my calendar schedule
  • easy to use
  • sync of the same alignment of messages in chat box.
MS Teams is well suited for virtual meetings and webinars. It an application that is very easy to use either in PC or mobile Phone. It has a lot of tools that can be use during the virtual meeting. It very useful, especially in times of pandemic where most people are working from home. Also, having a virtual meetings or webinars, it saves a lot of times.

We implemented Microsoft Teams a few years ago and starting adopting it as a replacement for Microsoft Skype for Business.
In the beginning adoption was slow and it was hard to get our staff and clients to move over.
However when the Covid Pandemic started we kept on sending out client/user comms about the features of Microsoft Teams.
We suddenly saw major adoption of Microsoft Teams and I can say this is one of the best collaboration and unified communication tools out there.
We use the Teams Channels for our Team collaboration and work. Sharing documents with users that need to work on it at the same time really works well. I have seen over 400 users work on a single document at the same time and we had no issues.

The Teams meetings work really well, Virtual Backgrounds are excellent, and is a major improvement compared to Skype for Business.
Finally, the multiple integration options with other apps, or the online web access functions are really great features. You are able to do everything in the Teams web app you can do in the desktop app.
  • Great collaboration tools and experience
  • Really good online meeting and meeting collaboration experience and tools
  • The Teams web function works really well and I sometimes prefer it over the desktop app
  • The additional add-ins available makes it truly great
  • The chat functions in Teams need some refinement and should give user options to move the Chat function to a more traditional IM style window as well. I know there was movement into the direction but I still thing improvement would be needed.
The overall collaboration between team members, teams, and even when teams are located all across the Global is a really great factor for team productivity.
The online meetings are really great and works really well with live captioning, etc.
The Teams online web version works just as great as the desktop clients.

It has several features like call transcription, call recording, live captions, background blur in video calls. Its seamless and works all devices like mobile and desktops. • Intermittent call drops
Teams is well suited for instant messaging and video conferences. It supports HD audio and video calls. It works on almost operation systems. We use it to conduct inter-district training via video link. We also use it to communicate over the internet, and provide the team with data and required materials. Configure systems via remote access and help the team. Microsoft Teams is also used to conduct voice calls with the team leads as well.
  • Voice/video calling.
  • Screen sharing.
  • Instant messages.
  • Share data/files.
  • Optimization.
  • Voice quality.
  • Video recording.
It is good if you are working with a team and have multiple daily meetings with the team members, you can use it easily. If you are working in a remote environment this is also good for you, but if you are working in an environment where there are no such scenarios, and you work on local computers, then this isn't a good solution for you.

I use the system for complete communication within the company and for dealing with external customers, it is also used to plan and manage my diary. Sales calls are made using teams as well as being used to run online training and workshops. I use the chat function to communicate none urgent information to my team.
  • Connects internal teams.
  • Diary management.
  • Chat function is great.
  • Could have different calendar views.
Microsoft Teams is best suited for companies that want to be able to keep communication between staff clean and simple. It is great for planning meetings as well as offering training programs that can be used in the office or at home. It is also a useful tool to keep in contact with customers and provide them with up-to-date data and information.

We use Microsoft Teams for our day-to-day collaboration. All of my meetings are held using Teams. All my team members have been working from home since the pandemic and Teams is our lifesaver. It provides really cool interface with provisions for sharing files/tasks/calendars/whiteboards, etc. It has an Office 365 button that allows us to easily navigate/share mail/access SharePoint, etc.
  • Chats are easy to manage and include an easy search option for retrieving previous chat history
  • Whiteboards have tasks which can be shared with a group
  • Video call quality is excellent, I hardly see any glitching
  • Sometimes pings are not instantaneous, especially when there are more than 100 participants in the Teams meeting
  • Gets hung up once in a while when the system is loading
  • Some headphone/Bluetooth connectivity issues. I turn on my Bluetooth just after receiving a Teams call notification. Sometimes the audio doesn't switch to Bluetooth and sometimes the sound is completely lost after connecting the call. In both cases, I had to completely reboot the system.
[Microsoft Teams is] perfectly suited for daily meetings of small size, about 7-20 people. It has an option for scheduling work assignments and tracking progress. The whiteboard really helps with brainstorming new ideas. It is less appropriate when team size is larger than 100. There is a lag in pings when a large number of people type at the same time. Sometimes the time lag can be as high as a couple of minutes. It is also not suitable when the presenter asks a question and looks for an answer on the chat when participants are more than 200.

What don't we use Microsoft Teams for? Since it's implementation, our Team has turned it into the all-access hub for all of our communication. We break down teams based on projects and they use Teams channels to post ideas and share work. We also use Microsoft Teams for video calls and to record customer interviews. I personally use the calendar feature to help me stay up-to-date. We have integrations with some of our others services that feed into Microsoft Teams as well.
  • Video calls are great with Microsoft Teams. They've made big improvements over the last year and I rarely have issue with getting on. It's nice when things just work.
  • The most used functionality is, of course, the chat feature. It does what it's supposed to do and you can create chat groups from whoever you'd like. We use it a lot when there is a special project and a team from various groups get together for a short period of time to get things done.
  • An overlooked function is the ability to search anything within Microsoft Teams. Any photo, document, or chat can be searched and found pretty easily. I can't tell you how many times this has saved me from having to rewrite something or start over.
  • The mobile experience could use more help. Not huge things but more annoyances. For example, you can only view the calendar in a week view on the mobile app. Also, the ability to schedule meetings and change the dates and times is rather difficult to do. So much so that I often wait until I am near a computer to get it done.
  • I'd love to see more integrations. Slack still has Microsoft Teams beat on this.
Any type of team connection and collaboration is going to be enhanced with Microsoft Teams. We even use it for some of our go-to-market strategies to help update certain teams of changes that are happening. It's been great to get immediate feedback and suggestions from the team. While we have used it to gather customer insights and do user interviews, I'm not sure it's best suited for that. People who are unfamiliar with teams tend to struggle and they often have to download it to their computers which takes time.

I use Microsoft Teams every day. I use it to quickly chat with coworkers or solve a problem. We send files through Teams and also use it to chat with a specific group of people. It helps eliminate the need for emails at times. We also use it for internal team calls. The product addresses the business problems such as: Remote employees, quick communication needs, problem-solving, large group questions, and one-on-one and group virtual meetings.
  • Group communication
  • One-on-one quick problem solving
  • Team meetings and share filing
  • Links to other Microsoft products

Microsoft Teams is a useful platform for company wide communication by chat, phone and conferencing. With phone licenses you can also use it as teleohony system. The video conferencing options can be used for internal and also external meeting. With screen and application sharing, its a great collaboration platform that support the business a lot
  • Collaboration is made very easy
  • Chat platform is great for short ways of communication
  • Video conferencing
  • Telephony options could be improved
  • With VDI appkication sharing is not possible
If you need a colaboration platform for internal and external use, Microsoft teams is a great tool. Also if you like to collaborate closer with other / external compabies and partners.
Instead of writing emails, you can use the chat function to communicate fast and reliable. Also adhoc meeting and voicecall are a great tool to make communication and collaboration much easier.

Our creative team uses Microsoft Teams to collaborate on daily projects, communication, and also team meetings. We're able to do screen shares for quick training sessions or hold larger team meetings where everyone can join in. Since COVID, our team has gone 100% remote so being able to connect online with Microsoft Teams has been a lifesaver.
  • Online sharing.
  • Online screen shares for training purposes.
  • Quick communication tool.
  • Excellent connectivity with few interruptions during meetings.
  • I sometimes have a hard time viewing both the meeting screen and chat window at the same time.
  • There have been times when someone in a meeting will totally lose their connection.
  • At times the sound quality is not what it should be which makes it hard to hear each other.
Our entire company has been able to communicate via Microsoft Teams for large company meetings and use video to connect with each other. We've held large team meetings as well where everyone joins in with video to be able to see each others' faces from time to time since we're all now 100% remote. Microsoft Teams is an excellent communication tool between myself and my employees. The one thing I'd say that is a drawback is that my team member and I had a personal conversation and an IT person was able to view and even share our conversation with other bosses. I thought this was inappropriate and I wish there would be a way to be "alerted" when someone is spying in on your conversations!
