What is Microsoft Teams?
Microsoft Teams combines video conferencing software with team collaboration tools. The communications platform allows MS Office users to conduct conference calls and share files via SharePoint, and join or initiate a group chat.
Microsoft Teams features three tiers of pricing. The first is a subscription-less, free option that offers the same features as the other two tiers but does not offer administration tools like analytics and access to on-premise servers, or support features like 24/7 phone and web support. The second and third tiers are based on the size of your business and its conferencing needs. Its “Office 365 Business Premium” option starts at $12.50 a month per user, with a required annual commitment, and its “Office 365 E3” option for enterprises starts at $20 a month per user, also with a required annual commitment.
Key Features

are customizable to fit your organization’s unique needs.

Great teamwork possible in Microsoft Teams!
- Real-time updated Microsoft Teams status of other users (i.e. immediate status changes of 'online', 'away', and 'busy' amongst all healthcare organization computers).
- Integration with Microsoft Outlook is excellent - workplace meeting invitations accepted on Outlook will synchronize with Microsoft Teams automatically and allow easy viewing (e.g. accepted Outlook invite to video teaching session will be integrated into Microsoft Teams calendar).
- Aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly interface - easy to initiate workplace 'chats' with staff present on a particular day.
- Integrating a crop tool to edit screenshots sent over Microsoft Teams would be useful! Currently have to use the Paint app first.
- Having a wider range of GIFs and emoticons available for use on the platform.
- Intermittent problems with connectivity soon after password changes for 2-3 days. Requires manual login however Microsoft Teams soon synchronizes with the new password.

MS Teams Review
- Voice
- Chat
- One-stop shop for SharePoint, Office365, Forms, and other apps
- Project management and project assignments
- Video communications and demonstrations
- Assignment tracking
- Scheduling calendar
- Stream video
- Audio/Video Communications
- Text Communications (chat)
- Project Management (handoffs, status, deadlines, etc)
- Surveys, Quizzes/Exams
- Calendar
- Stream is a little clunky and not part of the standard enterprise license
- Multiple views in one browser capability is badly needed (example: I need chat, files, project blocks, calendar all open at the same time, but it won't let me do that). To get multiple panels, I have to run 3-4 different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge) concurrently, plus the app.
See who's available and get a response right away
- Integrates with Outlook and SharePoint
- Instant messaging
- Stores documents and notes
- Hard to tell if someone is actually "away"
- Missing some Lync functionality
- Hard to find in SharePoint where docs are kept
The software I use in attending virtual meetings and events.
- good quality of audio and video
- tools that needed during meeting
- sync in my calendar schedule
- easy to use
- sync of the same alignment of messages in chat box.
Microsoft Teams makes it easy for Teams to just work.
In the beginning adoption was slow and it was hard to get our staff and clients to move over.
However when the Covid Pandemic started we kept on sending out client/user comms about the features of Microsoft Teams.
We suddenly saw major adoption of Microsoft Teams and I can say this is one of the best collaboration and unified communication tools out there.
We use the Teams Channels for our Team collaboration and work. Sharing documents with users that need to work on it at the same time really works well. I have seen over 400 users work on a single document at the same time and we had no issues.
The Teams meetings work really well, Virtual Backgrounds are excellent, and is a major improvement compared to Skype for Business.
Finally, the multiple integration options with other apps, or the online web access functions are really great features. You are able to do everything in the Teams web app you can do in the desktop app.
- Great collaboration tools and experience
- Really good online meeting and meeting collaboration experience and tools
- The Teams web function works really well and I sometimes prefer it over the desktop app
- The additional add-ins available makes it truly great
- The chat functions in Teams need some refinement and should give user options to move the Chat function to a more traditional IM style window as well. I know there was movement into the direction but I still thing improvement would be needed.
The online meetings are really great and works really well with live captioning, etc.
The Teams online web version works just as great as the desktop clients.
- Call transcription
- Live captions
- Call recording
- Calendar integration
- Outlook integration
- Easy to create and communicate within groups
- Notifications are sometimes hit and miss
- Intermittent call drops
Microsoft Teams is the best
- Voice/video calling.
- Screen sharing.
- Instant messages.
- Share data/files.
- Optimization.
- Voice quality.
- Video recording.
Teams Review
- Connects internal teams.
- Diary management.
- Chat function is great.
- Could have different calendar views.
- Chats are easy to manage and include an easy search option for retrieving previous chat history
- Whiteboards have tasks which can be shared with a group
- Video call quality is excellent, I hardly see any glitching
- Sometimes pings are not instantaneous, especially when there are more than 100 participants in the Teams meeting
- Gets hung up once in a while when the system is loading
- Some headphone/Bluetooth connectivity issues. I turn on my Bluetooth just after receiving a Teams call notification. Sometimes the audio doesn't switch to Bluetooth and sometimes the sound is completely lost after connecting the call. In both cases, I had to completely reboot the system.
Microsoft Teams has become essential for me
- Video calls are great with Microsoft Teams. They've made big improvements over the last year and I rarely have issue with getting on. It's nice when things just work.
- The most used functionality is, of course, the chat feature. It does what it's supposed to do and you can create chat groups from whoever you'd like. We use it a lot when there is a special project and a team from various groups get together for a short period of time to get things done.
- An overlooked function is the ability to search anything within Microsoft Teams. Any photo, document, or chat can be searched and found pretty easily. I can't tell you how many times this has saved me from having to rewrite something or start over.
- The mobile experience could use more help. Not huge things but more annoyances. For example, you can only view the calendar in a week view on the mobile app. Also, the ability to schedule meetings and change the dates and times is rather difficult to do. So much so that I often wait until I am near a computer to get it done.
- I'd love to see more integrations. Slack still has Microsoft Teams beat on this.
Microsoft Teams for a Remote Staff
- Group communication
- One-on-one quick problem solving
- Team meetings and share filing
- Links to other Microsoft products
- Sometimes get kicked off and have to verify identity
- Difficult for people who don't have Microsoft Office
- Collaboration is made very easy
- Chat platform is great for short ways of communication
- Video conferencing
- Telephony options could be improved
- With VDI appkication sharing is not possible
Instead of writing emails, you can use the chat function to communicate fast and reliable. Also adhoc meeting and voicecall are a great tool to make communication and collaboration much easier.
