Overall Satisfaction with Ahrefs Site Explorer
We use Ahrefs on a daily basis, to keep track of all our rankings, to create product descriptions that are SEO friendly and as a general guide for all our search engine optimization data. It is also very useful to optimize blog articles and to target specific keywords that have traffic volume.
- The UR and DR Index are great to measure how the SEO efforts are playing out on a per page (or product) basis.
- The keywords movement report is very useful as it helps to understand areas that need improvement.
- I wish they included more than just the first 20 keyword rank positions in their basic monthly plan.
- Ahrefs has been extremely useful in providing the necessary data to improve the organic traffic to the website.
- The insight provided by Ahrefs regarding the keywords and phrases for creating blog posts is very useful.
The way Ahrefs presents the data collected is much more intuitive and easy to understand than the way SEMRush offers it.
The interface of Ahrefs is more user-friendly than the one from SEMRush. I can get lost in the way SEMRush presents the data, and their help guides are not as well written as the ones at Ahrefs.
So in general I give Ahrefs a 10/10 in user friendliness.

Evaluating Ahrefs and Competitors
Yes - We were using Semrush previously. I spent a few months on and off, trying to understand the Semrush interface and the data produced. I always found it was not easy to analyze it in order to get a useful picture that made sense into what was going on with our website.
- Product Features
- Product Usability
- Analyst Reports
Ahrefs presents the data in an easy to understand way that makes sense. When I do not understand, there is always a help menu on each of the reports that is very well written. There is also help videos that are to the point helping to understanding the data and results.
When I saw how easy it was to understand why certain words were ranking high and why other keywords were not, I was sold to getting Ahrefs.
I find there is a ton of options and applications you can choose when it comes to picking out a tool to analize your website, it takes time to try them and see if they make sense or if there is actionable data that you can work on right away. The only thing I learned after evaluating different apps is that if I can not understand and make sense of the data in the first 30 minutes, I should not waste any more time in it.
Using Ahrefs
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Like to use Relatively simple Easy to use Technical support not required Well integrated Consistent Quick to learn Feel confident using Familiar | None |
- Keeping track of the external backlinks (new and lost)
- Keeping track of the organic keaywords and their ranking on Google
- The internal backlink analizer is good to have a general view, and identify problems but if you need to change a lot of redirects and internal linking, it is better to use another app, like Sitebulb or Screaming Frog.
