Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

NXT allows some reporting to be made easy enough for any user to pull. Development tracks their contact reports and accountability through NXT. We recently added ResearchPoint, allowing solicitors to see financial information on their prospects. Most users use NXT strictly to pull contact information on constituents or view media files on their records or add an action, so they are not using it at a very high level.
  • Allows individual users to personalize what they see and how they see it.
  • Allows gift processing to move a gift from one record to another, as long as it is the same type (individual or organization).
  • Provides relatively quick sync to information out in database view.
  • Sync of reports and queries currently in database view does not exist.
  • Gift batch entry seem clumsy on NXT.
  • Available training is very limited unless you subscribe to a service for training.
  • Sync to database view.
  • Pull lists with ease.
  • Easy and straightforward to open attached files for reference.
  • We are not yet fully consolidated to NXT, using database view for many functions.
  • NXT has allowed for accurate tracking and accountability of call reports across Development staff.
  • NXT is pretty easy to learn how to use, even got those without a data background, allowing for more complete documentation across the board.
NXT allows users to see what they want to see on each record and how they want to see it. This is critical in improving time management across Development staff. The system is easy to add notes or actions, allowing staff to be held accountable for their metrics goals. With the add-on of ResearchPoint, financial information is also now quickly visible on prospect records.
I personally prefer to be able to set the pace of the training sessions. Some leaders move far too slowly for my liking, and others too quickly. Maybe an option for pace would be nice when selecting a session.
Not applicable. I have used no other similar product at this time.

Do you think Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT's feature set?

Yes

Did Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT again?

No

NXT is well-suited for higher education, even smaller institutions. Much less so for other small nonprofits. Some reporting is much easier and more accurate than others, and support will pretty much answer any questions with that response because it is apparently fickle to some degree.

Using Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

10 - Development, Alumni Engagement, Donor Relations, and Advancement Services
1 - To support NXT, you simply need to know what you are doing. Know your data rules, what syncs from database view and what doesn’t, your colleague’s end goal, permissions allowed, etc. The most common complaint that I get is ‘I’m locked out,’ and that is rarely the case. Just listen and with through it with them. It really is that simple.
  • Tracking alumni, living and deceased
  • Fundraising
  • Stewardship information; know your constituent’s giving history, family, job, etc.
  • Tracking event attendance
  • Summary reporting for our VP to click and see totals.
  • Accountability to development metrics
  • Additional reporting
  • Gift batch entry
My team had already been considering other options for over a year. We just didn’t have all of our ducks in a row to make it happen at the time of our renewal.

Evaluating Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT and Competitors

  • Product Usability
As an absent team, our options need to be evaluated far enough ahead of time to make an educated decision whether or not a renewal is our best option.

Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT Support

Hold times are rarely less than 20 minutes, and many of my questions need to be elevated, if I don’t answer them myself.
ProsCons
Kept well informed
Slow Resolution
Poor followup
Less knowledgeable
Problems left unsolved
Escalation required
Difficult to get immediate help
Need to explain problems multiple times
Slow Initial Response
I believe so, because getting issues resolved is important to my team and organization. When I was out for three weeks for you surgery, there was a lot left undone. I am trying to play catchup and will be for a while.
Anytime I get Gregory on the support line, he knows what I need. He is exceptional and hope he is treated as such.

Using Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

NXT seems easy to learn on a relatively deep level. There are glitches, like with everything, but it is usually easy to see where they are, most of time. I like that Development staff can choose what they want to see and where they want to see it, and it doesn’t affect my screen.
ProsCons
Like to use
Relatively simple
Easy to use
Technical support not required
Well integrated
Quick to learn
Convenient
Feel confident using
Familiar
Inconsistent
  • Getting to the constituent info you want to see
  • Moving a gift from one record to another
  • Tracking Development metrics
  • Some reporting is complicated
  • Lists are not as easy to create as a I’d like
  • Sync to database view is inconsistent

Relationship with Blackbaud

During the sales process, you have got their attention. They are which to return calls, and answer calls or questions.
Phone in support usually means no less than a twenty minute wait before someone picks up, and usually for my questions, if I don’t answer them myself, they have to elevate it to a higher level, which takes additional time, without an answer.
Three year contract, with one year of free training, but the cost of two years broken across the three years of the contract.
Pricing really seems to be all over the place, and everything else you need is an extra add-on cost. The biggest issue is training. Options are limited unless you subscribe and pay for it across your contract.
Patience, you must have it. Be a strong negotiator and entertain other options so you have a bargaining chip.
