Overall Satisfaction with Deputy

We use Deputy across our entire organization. We have 2 locations and 3 different departments for each location. We use the scheduling platform for 4 of our 6 departments. We also use Deputy as an employee-manager communication system, individually and by department. We have our management team set up on two accounts: a general account for basic communications and an urgent account that is monitored as an on-call / emergency system.
We previously used the timeclock system; however, it did not integrate well with our payroll system so we had to switch to their version.
  • Automated scheduling.
  • Employee communication platform.
  • Scheduling templates.
  • Employees always have trouble using the "shift swap" feature. They usually just send a message on the news feed to update management on any shift changes.
  • The automated scheduling feature does still have a tendency to put employee shifts into patterns, even if "learn from me" is turned off.
  • The automated scheduling will sometimes pull people from different "locations" that should not be scheduled there.
  • Being able to turn "open" shifts to "empty" would be a huge help with the way we build our schedules!
  • Cost savings through reduced time spent on scheduling.
  • Improved work-life balance through the creation of a management on-call general/urgent system on the newsfeed.

Employees have trouble with the shift swap feature.
[The implementation of Deputy is] very smooth with no issues.
Deputy is great when you have employees with complicated schedules or multiple areas/roles they could be scheduled in. The system can become complicated though if you are not confident in the system.

The news feed system is great, and the app is easy to use for that, the time clock, and time-off request submissions.

The timeclock did not integrate with Paycor, which we were told it would. It does export the data, but not in a way that can be uploaded and transferred to Paycor easily. We had to switch to Paycor's timeclock for that reason.
