Overall Satisfaction with Heap

Addresses lack of clickstream data analytics in Google Analytics.
  • Ability to tag almost anything on site.
  • Ease of building dashboards in the platform.
  • Analytics as a Service partnership is excellent.
  • Because the tool's use is primarily for dashboards, totals, and % to totals are not available. The user must download reports to excel.
  • Creating snapshots is not very user-friendly. You must have knowledge of code/CSS to track properly.
We only have the free version of Google Analytics so if we were to tag even a fraction of the areas we have tagged with Heap, we would go over our monthly volume of hits.

Heap is well suited to gather general site clickstream data and build dashboards from this set of data. Examples include: Homepage reporting, Category or PDP reporting Heap does not do a great job of combining data sets. So taking Homepage reporting, for example, you can see sessions to the Homepage, clicks on a specific asset, and CTR, but you can't see this all in 1 chart together. Each metric is separate from one another in a chart, making it a bit cumbersome to synthesize. You have to export the data to excel and manipulate it.
