Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp

As a marketing coordinator I use Mailchimp to send out EDM's to our clients and data base of agents. This could be on topics such as new projects, current H&L offerings, promotions and general news letters. I like the drag and drop function when building emails and how easy it is to pick a segment to send to. It can be a bit glitchy when copying in large blocks of text from another source but it is fairly easy to work around.
  • Easy overview of campaign results
  • Drag and drop function to build EDM's
  • Easy to invite others from your company to create their own profiles and collaborate
  • Great overview of campaigns in the campaign calendar
  • Formatting pasted text from another source when building an EDM can be glitchy. I currently have to reformat the whole block of text to something else completely and then back to the font and point size I want.
  • The line/space block in EDM builder isn't reliable. I always have to send many test emails to myself to check how big the space is between modules and adjust then send again.
  • The landing page builder is good but sometimes hard to get right in terms of size of images and spacing. Especially the footer.
  • After creating the first EDM template for 'new townhomes projects' I save about an hours worth of time each time we announce a new project. It's easy and fun to set up and design and then once it is done I just feed in new images and change the project details. All links and buttons are already pre-loaded with a link to our website.
  • Building a landing page for a promotion we had was easy and fun with only some smaller bumps. I very much appreciated that the service is included in our monthly fee. The alternative would have been to sign up with a third party and pay approx. $115 per month extra.
  • We keep a monthly report of EDM's and how many we have sent/got opened/clicked etc. Easy to find in the report tab.
The main benefit we have had is to collect potential clients and sales agents who are interested in our product and then keep them up to date. In the last 2 years only we have expanded our townhomes segment with about 1500 individual contacts. We generally do not have many subscriptions as we try to keep information brief and up to date.
Mailchimp is a great tool for smaller businesses and businesses just starting out. It is easy to learn and generally have very few glitches. SharpSpring was very hard to operate and the EDM's we created looked clunky and dated. My company have just started moving over to HubSpot as we feel like we have outgrown Mailchimp in some business areas.
