Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Teams

[Microsoft Teams] is being used both at the top level of the organization as well as down to the individual departments within the organization. It is the main communication tool currently in use for collaboration across departments and the organization. It addresses the business problems of having a robust all-in-one collaboration/communication tool that is feature rich and is easy to integrate with other commonly used software in an organization (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
  • It integrates well with other Microsoft Office products. This is very important for the software to do this, since so many organizations are using other Microsoft products in their environments.
  • It pretty much has most common collaboration features that will be utilized by most organizations/companies. This is important since it allows organizations to use only one collaboration tool, rather than multiple tools to get the features they need.
  • It allows for granular permissions to be set for different user roles, channels, etc. This is important especially when you might want to set different permissions for internal and external users/collaborators.
  • It has a greater learning curve than some other collaboration tools out there. It is more difficult for users to start using without some formal training of the software.
  • Setting user permissions can be somewhat complicated, as it's not as straightforward as can be. This requires IT/Admins to really read through technical documentation to be able to set things right.
  • Being an all-in-one collaboration tool
  • Being able to scope permissions to different user groups, since the organization does deal with both internal and external collaborators
  • Being a tool that has the features that we most often use. This helps us to not have to deploy other collaboration tools.
  • A positive impact has been in having to save time for IT staff from not having to deploy other collaboration tools, since Teams is an all-in-one collaboration tool.
  • Another positive impact has been in the ability to set permissions for different user groups. This helps to keep things more secure overall.
  • One negative impact has been in the extra time it has taken to try and get users up to speed with using the platform. More formal training is required.
Microsoft Teams essentially has taken over Skype for Business as the replacement all-in-one collaboration tool/platform. It is much more feature rich than Skype for Business, as it offers a lot more standard features that most organizations actually use. The ability to set permissions for different users/groups within Teams gives it a big advantage over Skype for Business, since that platform doesn't offer that.

[Microsoft Teams] is well suited for organizations that need an all-in-one collaboration tool, and one that has the standard features that most organizations use. This is a benefit, rather than having to deploy a number of different tools/software in an environment. It is less appropriate in organizations that want to deploy something rather quickly and for users to get up and running quickly with the software. It does take more formal training to learn this software platform.
