Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely

We use Optimizely to perform conversion rate optimization for a variety of business needs but mostly for lead generation, e commerce, and brand engagement. Our parent company, Incubate, owns a variety of online properties and we use Optimizely to split test landing pages, concepts, and value propositions as well.

Many companies make business decisions based a variety of data - except many cases, when it comes to their website. Using Optimizely we're able to help business leaders make decisions based on real data to back up the findings. This could be anything from value propositions to page layout. With Optimizely you can test just about any facet of a website and this is particularly valuable when it comes to the funnel.
  • Split testing unique value propositions - Honestly, split testing text could not be any easier AND the reporting that we're able to deliver is top notch.
  • Experiments that allow you to segment visitors in a variety of ways. One example - first time visitors often behave much differently than repeat visitors. With Optimizely, you can set up tests that are unique to each group.
  • Split testing by traffic source. Need a test just for Facebook users? Twitter users? Or any other referral source can be set up in a matter of minutes.
  • When you look at the price point of the platform there really aren't any "weak points" but as this format requires you to list something here they are.
  • Reporting is great but I'd love a way to export all segments a bit easier like in Google Analytics. I've heard the Optimizely team is working on this so we should see it soon
  • I'd love a client manager like the "My Client Center" in google adwords we use to manage multiple paid search accounts with a single log in.
  • I've yet to come across a single website or business that didn't benefit from split testing.
  • For lead gen, testing content can result in not just more leads, but better qualified ones as well.
  • Learnings made from website testing can also be transferred to other mediums like email marketing, print, TV, and radio.
Optimizely is easier to use and quicker to deploy espescailly compared to Google Analytics content experiments. Also reporting is much easier to generate, which is a big deal to us because we do so much productions work that anywhere we can save time on reporting is a real benefit. They offer a free trial so why not give Optimizely a shot?
The web page editor in Optimizely is great but for dramatic layout changes you'll still need a dev team. However, Optimizely makes it dead simple to split and report on the traffic. You'll still need to understand the concept of conversion rate optimisation and the need to generate strong hypotheses for each experiment that you can build upon. To anyone new to this field, I'd highly recommend the book "You Should Test That" by Chris Goward. He breaks the process down into easily digestible chunks and you'll get fired up to launch some tests of your own.

Using Optimizely

9 - Analysts, project managers, developers, and copywriters.
For the job, and for the PRICE, Optimizely is the best tool that we've come across. We've had plenty of experience with other platforms and I can't think of an instance in which I've wished that we were using a different testing platform. Talk is cheap though, so I'd recommend giving their free trial a test drive.

Optimizely Support

On any questions or issues that we've had the Optimizely support staff has been very quick to help and really knowledgeable. Overall we couldn't be happier with the support we've received from their tech team.
