Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely Web Experimentation

We are ramping up an experimentation program, our initial efforts have targeted lower impact changes to content and design. Our marketing organization is going through a web redesign and the goal was to use Optimizely Web Experimentation to help guide this process. We are now shifting towards leveraging Optimizely Web Experimentation as a personalization tool, to focus in on key clients and leads in our industry.
  • UX is user friendly. It was easy to jump in and start playing around within the platform to learn how to use it.
  • Flexibility. We are in the early stages of building out a program but I can see the opportunity for setting up experiments using a variety of tactics, implementations, and custom metrics. Using the 'wysiwyg' change interface is an easy way to get started. Having the option for JS will be awesome once we are at full steam.
  • Implementation. The single snippet approach makes it easy to get started.
  • Guidance on implementation within strict data privacy strategies
  • Visual cues and distinction in the platform (also on the CMS too) - Everything is white and tends to look the same. I (personally) find it hard to retrace my steps or find an area I am looking for
  • Built-in demo/tutorial prompt when starting different types of experiments. For example, I was setting up a redirect experiment following documentation on Optimizely's support site and could have used an interactive, in-platform demo to go along with it.
  • Positive - Starting an experimentation program through Optimizely Web Experimentation has helped changed PMM perspectives in planning out their digital initiatives
  • Positive - We are seeing small wins that easy to implement and have direct impact on our lead generation.
  • TBD on ROI - We are not at a level of digital maturity to see the impact of our experiments through to the point of sale
While we are not at scale, I can see the potential for growth based on the conversations I've had with other users in more developed experimentation programs. (A little jealous, to be honest!)
We use Optimizely Web Experimentation and currently Episerver. We're upgrading next week to Optimizely 12.
We are able to work on projects in one space, which helps reduce confusion and make it easier to onboard new users since the interfaces are similar.
We are still too early into our program to see the full result.
Absolute necessity for B2C ecommerce companies, especially those with high volume of sales. B2B application may vary based on industry. For companies with long sales cycles, it may not be as useful as other martech tools within the Optimizely ecosystem.
