Overall Satisfaction with Paychex Flex

We are a small business of approximately 30 employees. We have a human resource department that uses Paychex Flex to assist them in onboarding new employees. We also use Paychex Flex to keep track of time cards. Paychex Flex is also used for Human Resource management where they alert us to any changes in the laws.
  • An updated interface.
  • A robust list of reports and analytics.
  • Sending W2's out at the end of the year.
  • Time and attendance apps and check-in option where it will tag when a person arrived without clocking them out.
  • Easy to adjust missing punches for those out in the field.
  • The Paycheck Flex App is separate from the paycheck Time app for punching in the clock - It would be nice to see them working together a little more efficiently.
  • They have representatives and the quality of service you receive can greatly vary depending on who you are assigned to. This can be annoying and frustrating as you don't always know who to contact.
  • It can take a while to get off the ground.
  • Paychex is not cheap and they charge for everything separately (i.e., Sending W2's at the end of the year).
  • It will save on HR as the HR that is assigned to you can assist and guide a company.
  • They have a legal staff that can help you make better HR decisions rather than consulting with an outside lawyer.
We used Humanity for timekeeping, which worked for a little while, but was difficult to manage and we were still required to do all billing - Granted, Humanity is not an Employee Payroll program. Now we can keep time and it is integrated into the payroll system. I haven't used any other payroll system so I can't say how they compare to them.
If they had a better-organized system and customer service they could receive a rating. They will get back to you and assist but sometimes it can be slow. They also nickel and dime you on things, although this is understood as they are a company and do need to be profitable. Their higher rating is for the ease of time punch-ins, general payroll options, and functionality as well as having a fairly decent app for the iPhone.

Do you think Paychex Flex delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Paychex Flex's feature set?

Yes

Did Paychex Flex live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Paychex Flex go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Paychex Flex again?

Yes

It is suited for a small to medium-sized company and for those who have outside employees who require punching in. The time clock is great for keeping track of those out in the field. They also send out W2's and can be a time saver. They will also send updated Posters and will help you write your company employee handbook. They will automatically deposit employee's checks, and if needed, will send a check directly to be given to the employee.
