Overall Satisfaction with Cision Communications Cloud

We use Cision Communications Cloud (TrendKite)* to track and analyze media mentions of Wesleyan University, our faculty and alumni. It is used primarily by myself and a colleague in the office of communications. It allows us to better understand how Wesleyan and its people are being talked about in the world and follow coverage trends.

  • Cision does a great job of finding media mentions in a wide range of media, from TV and radio to major newspapers and small blogs.
  • Cision offers easy and attractive reporting features to share analysis over time with others in an organization.
  • Cision is always innovating, and is highly responsive to customer feedback.
  • Cision's customer support is extremely quick and helpful.
  • Cision's platform can be a bit slow and finicky at times. Some of its features are difficult to use on a small laptop screen.
  • Cision does still miss some media mentions, including those in major publications.
  • Cision's radio capturing technology does not seem to be functioning properly. I have difficulty locating the mention of Wesleyan within the audio clip.
  • I wish it was possible to see how many readers a particular article has, rather than an average of monthly visitors to a general website.
  • Some of the new features introduced by Cision (eg. SEO impact, total coverage vs. total web traffic) are not easy to understand, or I don't feel they relate important or usable information.
  • Meltwater
We previously used Meltwater for media monitoring for several years. I find Cision's platform much more robust in its analysis and reporting capabilities. I'm also more impressed by Cision's customer service. We evaluated about 10 different media monitoring platforms before choosing to switch to Cision, and none of them seemed as user friendly or powerful as Cision Communications Cloud.
I find Cision Communications Cloud (TrendKite) very useful for keeping on top of media mentions of Wesleyan. It can also be helpful in making PR decisions regarding which media outlets to target, though this information is harder to come by.

Transition from TrendKite to Cision Communications Cloud

Cision's customer support is one of its best features! I love how quickly I can get a response by using the chat feature right on the Cision site. Support staff is almost always able to answer my questions immediately, or promises to report back problems or requests. They seem to be very responsive to customer feedback and are always looking to improve their product.
