Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard AuthPoint
AuthPoint is used across the complete organisation. AuthPoint is being used to access to the WatchGuard partner portal, for access to our SaaS application Autotask, for access to Awingu solution, this is a solution for remote working, while making connection through the web browser instead of using a VPN connection for example. It is also implemented in the SSO of the MS365, but that I'm not sure of.
Pros
- Adds extra security to different logins.
- Easy to use because it's on the smartphone.
- Use one application to secure different logins at different levels.
- Not expensive at all!
Cons
- Layout of the application.
- Installation of the application.
- Use of the application.
- AuthPoint is not an expensive solution, but it is a pure cost.
- The risk of a security breach is much lower when using this solution.
- Overall this is a good investment.
Google Authenticator has fewer features then WatchGuard AuthPoint, therefore I have not used the Google Authenticator solution a lot. But of course Google Authenticator is free so it is a good way to improve security cheaply but if you want to have a professional solution with support it is better to have the WatchGuard AuthPoint solution.
The big advantage over other similar solutions is that it works as an app on the smartphone, usually nowadays everyone has a smartphone of his own or from the company. Everyone has his smartphone close to him, so this solution is always at hand. Even if you should forget your smartphone, it is possible to have access thanks to the support of AuthPoint helpdesk provided by the reseller. With the hardware tokens solutions it is always an extra piece of hardware you have to carry along to work, home or client.
