Overall Satisfaction with Zoom
Zoom is available to our entire institution, both employees and students, at no additional cost. Any user can schedule or join meetings from any device, including personal devices. It is our sole videoconferencing solution, and is occasionally used as an ad-hoc recording platform. It also delivers content to our long-term video storage and distribution platform.
- Zoom is very intuitive for first-time users to join a meeting.
- The scheduling extension in Outlook makes planning future calls simple and easy.
- Sharing your screen is both high quality and easy to do.
- Zoom has some features like the whiteboard that are difficult to stumble across, and many users are unaware of them.
- The cloud recordings are of high quality, but there is no warning when you start recording that it will only be available for 30 days.
- It would be nice to record tracks of individual video and audio for post-production later.
- Zoom lets us assist users remotely.
- Zoom lets us meet with people face to face when they aren't on campus.
- Zoom is better quality and cheaper than its competition.
We have a few Zoom Rooms just starting to deploy, and so far they have been well received. How to initiate the call or record it to your account has taken some exploration because Zoom considers the room to be a user itself, so there has been a lot of work to maintain ownership of recordings appropriately.
Zoom is simpler and has higher quality video streaming than either Webex or GoToMeeting. There is no ability to upload large files before a meeting and view in sync, so if there is something with a lot of fine detail or an ultra-high quality video, they have some (more complicated) options for sharing that Zoom doesn't offer.
