Zoom is an online meeting and video conferencing platform known for its webinar capabilities for live virtual events and broadcasting. We also use Zoom for our Continuing Medical Education lectures. 5 years ago, we relied heavily on our Polycom video conference systems for site to site meetings. They worked great as long as you could make it to one of the specific locations in which the meeting was being held. For those that couldn't be present in person, they had to call in on the phone. Participating by phone was a less than optimal meeting experience, not only for the remote participants but also for the folks who were trying to understand said remote participants. In working to solve this problem, we came across Zoom at the InfoComm Convention in Las Vegas in 2014. Zoom provided an easy way for us to continue using our Polycom equipment and allow those remote participants to join from their own device as a full video participant. Not only that, we were able to replace WebEx with Zoom and we got a lot more bang for our buck.,Zoom meetings are easy to start and join. With some other web meeting platforms, it is difficult getting the software onto your computer. We've found that Zoom installs the first time you click on the meeting link with one-click ease. Recording your meetings in the Zoom Cloud is simple. Click record and then after your meeting is over, you get an email from Zoom with your recording link. Zoom is platform agnostic. It works with computers, laptops, mobile devices, Linux machines, and legacy video conference systems.,In our environment using Polycom systems, videos that are being shared don't come through really well on the Polycom systems. The audio is usually very fluid but the video will lag or stutter. Virtual backgrounds have a come a long way, but I recently saw a "blur background" feature on a competitors platform that looked quite good. It'd be great if Zoom could do something like that.,10,For the same cost that we were spending on WebEx, we were able to utilize our Polycom systems and allow 5x as many people to have Zoom accounts. On top of our Pro Zoom accounts, we have twice as many colleagues using the basic account for daily huddles and 1:1 training with other colleagues via screen sharing.,We do not use Zoom rooms.,Polycom RealPresence Group Series, Webex Meetings, Skype, BlueJeans, Vidyo, GlobalMed eNcounter and AvayaThe best video conferencing app I have seenZoom is used by our Sales, CS, and Executive teams to communicate with clients, vendor partners, and potential customers. We regularly need to do video conferencing where we can see faces, do screen shares, and record calls in a way that makes it easy to share the recording with others later.,I appreciate that you have many options for what is being shared and how the viewer experiences it when you do a screen share. The video recording quality is good, and allows us to essentially make a training or demo video in the process of doing a call. The scheduling Chrome extension makes it easy to turn a calendar event into a Zoom meeting.,On calls, audio quality can be bad, and we have spent time trying to fix it when time is short. It's rare, but it probably happens once a month. Occasionally I will join a Zoom event on my calendar and be added to a "room" where I am the only person. I'll then get an email from other attendees who say they are logged into the meeting and can't see/hear me. There are a lot of pop-ups that seem unnecessary when I just want to join and leave my calls smoothly.,8,Zoom has come out with new features that allow us to dump other programs and put more needed functionality in one place. Zoom allows us to juggle lots of quick meetings throughout the day with easy calendaring and entry into and exit from calls. Zoom screen-sharing is clean enough that we often hold meetings via Zoom with people in the same building rather than needing to gather.,We use Zoom Rooms for all-hands meetings, and to run webinars from static locations like conference rooms. I think there are easier to use programs out there for this functionality (i.e. more intuitive UI), but the fact that we already use Zoom and can have this tool through an existing product we use is great.,Join.me and GoToMeetingConference Call Meetings Better With ZoomZoom is the primary online meeting software that we use. Zoom allows the organization to easily set up meetings where everyone can join with a simple link. The connection is mostly uninhibited, allowing for clear communication. It is easy to record, share screens, and do remote control access, which is very helpful when communicating with customers to debug issues.,Screen share. Audio. Remote control.,Meeting configurations can be different among meeting rooms. The leave meeting button could be more accessible. Computer audio doesn't seem to work.,9,Improved online meetings. Clear audio. It's simple to set up meetings. Less overhead.,Zoom Rooms works as intended. It allows for anyone to easily schedule and start a meeting with not a lot of overhead. After the company set up the Zoom Rooms, conference room meeting setup has become a lot simpler, especially if a remote connection is required. Zoom Rooms gives a very professional feel to it without having to hire out or pay for another service.,Cisco Webex CallingZOOMing Along With Video ConferencingWe use Zoom as our video conferencing platform internally and with clients. We previously used GoToMeeting, but found that Zoom was a superior experience and a better product. Over time we have been proven right, as the advancements and features in Zoom allow us to scale without changing the account type, and allows us to do more. The idea of face to face communication, on any device, is a big problem solved.,High quality video. Cloud storage of recordings. Google Calendar integration. HD video.,Less customer mail about things we already know. Better support for small business users. Email and chat isn't always the best route. Better multi-monitor support.,9,Zoom, when we use it, makes it easy to see everyone on a call. Zoom creates a great water cooler effect for stand ups. Zoom is a very useful tool for working with remote staff.,Improved productivity and enhanced user experience for onsite and remote workers with Zoom!We implemented Zoom as a replacement for Webex. We also have plans to replace our existing Skype for Business chat functionality and will be working with Zoom in the near future to pilot the cloud PBX functionality.,Ease of use for the desktop client Zoom rooms could not be easier. Chat features are strong and easy to understand and use,Hmmmm - not many areas honestly. One improvement we've noticed that sometimes the chat features are not available when in a meeting (you can chat as part of the meeting, but not to people outside of the meeting) We have had a few (many less than Webex) disconnections from ongoing meetings. Typically this is explainable due to connectivity issues with the client.,10,Greatly improved communications and collaborations Better customer experience (both with our org as well as with our partners and clients!),Yes we do! We've just implemented our second Zoom Room with many more to come. They are super easy to use and require no user education. The configurations and equipment are robust and can be locked to to prevent accidentally meddling. With the equipment we are using the audio and video quality is exceptional!! We've started using zoom rooms (and Zoom in general) for some of our client on boarding and employee interview processes (which is huge!).Zoom's technology supports collaboration in cross-functional team meetingsZoom is being used to host recurring meetings with global stakeholders in cross-functional teams. I was immediately impressed by the simplicity of use, which enabled even mid-level technicians to execute events that it was used on. We now use Zoom as the basis of any small video conference across the business, up to large scale full production communication. It is my personal choice for phone and video conferences for internal or external meetings/ I have my own personal account within the business. The number one problem that Zoom addresses for me in comparison to standard phone conferencing (which incidentally is the primary reason I have a personal account) is the moderation. The lack of moderation on our old phone conferencing system made teleconferences very hard to manage if someone's phone went rogue. Joining by phone is greatest advantage. Recording the session and maintaining the recording over cloud is wonderful feature. Wonderful administrative console and controls offered.,Administrators should be able to specifically able to enable recording feature for individual user. At present enabling recording feature enables for all users. Creating different groups in corporate and Security rules to restrict communication among the groups is not available. Large group meetings have some restrictions on mute/unmute voice and video after the meeting starts. Using Mac for Zoom rooms can be expensive for some of small companies. Some of the zoom room multiple screen setups reflect differently at times while the changes are made while conferencing is ON. AD integration and avoiding non corporate workers to communicating with corporate workers. Data sharing restrictions outside corporate. Anytime you are needing to discuss a project or make decisions about something, Zoom and sharing your video is the way to go. It is a near replacement for meeting face to face. Nothing is lost in regards to missed body language and it keeps both parties 100% engaged. If you need a quick "yes" or "no", then the phone or IM is your tool of choice.

Zoom works well for demos, trainings, and any situation where audio and video sharing are equally important. However, I have seen it struggle at volume. With 20+ people on a call, the icons indicating whether a person has audio/video enabled are sometimes incorrect. The app says the person's computer audio is muted, but I can clearly hear them. In sum, It is best with intimate groups who are collaborating and every attendee is a participant.

Zoom is great for hosting meetings because it allows for easy room setup and joining, as well as clear audio and the ability to share and record. It is also very good for being able to remotely access other computers through a simple portal through Zoom. This is very helpful for our business, as it allows us to debug issues that the customer is facing.

Mobile devices, on WiFi or LTE, have great experiences with Zoom on iPhones and iPads. It's not good in loud places without a headset, so auto-mute of background noise or filtering of background audio would be helpful. These loud environments lead to noise on the call, and not everyone on calls knows how to Mute. Making muting easier and more easily identified would be a big plus.

  • Zoom chat. quickly allowing people a single app to manage conf calls along with chat, screen sharing and it even comes with fun gifs :)
  • Zoom client - easy to join meetings, schedule adhoc video calls from any device anywhere
  • Mobile client is easy to use and provides a consistent user experience (which is the most important...)
  • the zoom product is robust and doesn't change the user interface on a weekly bases which keeps our users happy!

Well suited to host group meetings where you can present one screen and reference other documents on your laptop without everyone in the meeting seeing your full desktop. Customization options make some plan options complicated and can be overwhelming.

This is a great tool for connecting groups and individuals across the globe. Sharing presentations and documents on screen is done particularly well. Meetings can be saved for review by persons unable to attend the live meetings.

Zoom is great when you have people at multiple buildings or in different locations. Also, the ability to share publicly is limited in Zoom.

If everything you do is in one building, then it has limited application. Create a general public forum of content on Zoom with regards to meetings and training.

It is suitable in:
  • Work sessions with people in different cities.
  • This session can be recorded on your laptop directly or if you do not have space you can do it in the cloud.
  • You can enter the session from a computer, tablet, mobile phone, or even from a telephone.

I can't think of scenarios where Zoom isn't appropriate.

Zoom is perfect for one-on-one video meetings, and works well for classes hosted virtually. When a real-estate agent joins our brokerage I can host an onboarding meeting to get them introduced and acquainted with our company and our technology. I have also used it from my computer, where I hosted a virtual training where we had more people than our training room could accommodate. I was able to teach a class with 60 people physically in attendance and another 20 or so virtually attending.

Zoom serves as a professional tool for both internal and external users, where we can maintain the brand in a very positive way. Colleagues who have used or are new to Zoom are also finding it very easy to set up. Though we are not using the enterprise plan, we think that we will continue to use the service once the demand reaches that level.

If your link quality is sub-par, you will probably not benefit from the use of Zoom, since you will not be able to hear/see what is being spoken/presented in the session. Also, mobile connections, especially at high speed (train, bus, car on a motorway) are not recommended -- the session tends to break down.

Zoom is great for meetings with large groups. It's easy to see and keep track of attendees, to handle the controls as needed, and to share your screen. We have used Zoom for several months to host our big monthly department meeting that requires participation from many users, and the platform offers such a clean and clear visual for meeting with 50 people at once.

Zoom is suited for 99% of any scenario you can put in front of me and I would think as a business we have probably done it all. We even used it for an 8 person Sydney/8 person Singapore dinner conference where we used the Breakout Room Function. I can't actually think of a scenario where I would not use it. We even use USB3 and SDI capture devices on larger events to push professional camera mixed signals into Zoom.

It is well suited for large companies with many zoom rooms who have various domains within. For small companies and companies that have more security restrictions between groups, it's less appropriate. Example: If we have 2 conflicting customer accounts, then we cannot restrict users from communicating among them. Data classification and DLP tagging with industry tools are missing.

Zoom is perfect for intimate business meetings or professional 1-on-1s. I have found that if I quickly want to instigate a meeting through Slack, I can do so directly by pasting a URL. However, I have found that setting up for a large room can prove tricky especially since my office installed OWL accessories.

We host different hearings and sometimes we have multiple parties on at the same time. The waiting room functionality has certainly made it easy to organize and keep track of who is in a call. Also being able to do test calls with the parties involved without having to create a separate invite has simplified things for us.
