For the price, having all of these features is amazing. If you have separate divisions and want to not have a ton of crossover with calls this is a great setup. It isn’t a great setup if you need only one phone since it doesn’t make sense since you won’t use most of the features.

BlueJeans

BlueJeans is a great platform for small group meetings and collaborations. I have not really experienced how it handles groups of 10 or more, but I imagine its performance is comparable with competitors in this regard.In my mind, BlueJeans really shines in the area of meetings where activity needs to be recorded for later use, such as training and onboarding.And of course, meetings requiring any sort of privacy or security (which is EVERY meeting, as far as I am concerned) are squarely in BlueJeans' sweet spot. It is truly wonderful not having to even think about the possibility of uninvited "guests" crashing the party, nor having to deal with clumsy, tacked-on "security" measures.

  • Ease of connection (once you are used to it)
  • Relatively low bandwidth works well as compared to most other competing platforms
  • I have found customer service to be particularly responsive, and rare occasions when they fail to come up with an answer/solution.
  • Options for layouts (for participant videos); beats most other competing platforms, though it could still be improved
  • Live streaming to Facebook Live/Workplace
  • Almost unlimited recording (soft limit of 50GB)

  • It would be helpful if the meeting organizer didn't have to open the line with their credentials in order to start.
  • I think it would be good if when having a large call with multiple rooms that the screen splits between all video callers. Other times, it flickers between different screens even if the person on the other screens isn't speaking.
  • It would be great if BlueJeans had an added chat feature so that people could share links whilst talking on video or voice.

We are heavily invested in another platform. However the features are not quite the same as BlueJeans. If they do become more like BlueJeans (especially the video sharing), then our need for BlueJeans would significantly decrease. An even better option would be if they bought BlueJeans...

I don't have much experience of joining a meeting from an attendee of someone else's. As for joining a meeting I've created, it's very easy. For recurring meetings, I find the meeting in my list, and if it's near the time to start, there will be a "Join" button, and I just push that. After that, it gives me the options for joining -- video, audio, phone, screen share only. It remembers my previous choices, so mostly I just can click by that. As for attendees joining, there do seem to be connection problems from time to time and people have to log off and come back on, but we had that trouble with GoToMeeting also. Being able to mute attendees is much better in BlueJeans. When we had GoToMeeting, I constantly had problems with people joining by phone incorrectly, such that they didn't even show up in the meeting list and thus I couldn't mute them when needed.

If you get less than 4 phones you fall into the online only customer service. There were a couple of times that I could have used more assistance but figuring it out online was a bit of a hassle.

Well, I hear from many of my clients and other contacts that they find Microsoft Teams/Zoom much easier to use, and that they do not like BlueJeans. I disagree. First, I do not like seeing blank windows of participants who have turned off their video (and many do, given they do not wish to be seen at home, or in casual attire); however, I do use Teams or Zoom or Webex at times. I did not find it difficult to implement BlueJeans in my organization, and those who have used Teams, Webex, or Zoom say the same about these platforms.

I love 8x8. Having not used Polycom phones before, the hardest part was learning how to set up and use the actual phones. 8x8 makes it a seamless transition from using other service providers. Their customer service is excellent although if you get their cheapest plan you will only get online assistance.

BlueJeans

I have used Skype, Facebook Messenger, Google Hangouts, Zoom, and others. BlueJeans and Zoom are the best products are out there for meetings that require interactive presentations and formality. I believe both products are good. Preference by the people I serve is typically which product they became familiar with first or which product others are using. People want to run a meeting without a hitch, BlueJeans certainly provides that.

  • Easier to find consistent meeting times because no travel is involved and no room reservations required.
  • I find that we use our time during the meetings more efficiently, sticking to the set time.
  • Having a record of the meeting benefits those who were not able to attend, but it also helps when writing yearly reports if we need to refer back to a particular discussion.
