Adobe Analytics

Adobe Analytics is well-suited for quick analysis of our website/mobile app especially at a summarized level. Where we start using other tools is when we have to get really granular, such as at a single customer level, though this is partly a product of how our pages are tagged.

It's great for people like myself who are not technical and don't know code. I thinks it's appropriate for any size of business. I think if you are very technical and like building out lots of campaigns then you'd probably be better suited with something like Marketo or Eloqua.

Pros

  • The consistency of reporting has always been good meaning that we have never experienced any major discrepancies. I obviously think this is a huge factor when considering a reporting tool because the company's performance is judged based off the data housed in here.
  • We have never run into any technical issues with Adobe's servers being down and Adobe Analytics becoming inaccessible. This could cause major problems if you are trying to take care of highly important reports or requests.
  • The customer service is also fantastic. Any time I reach out to my rep, they always respond in a timely manner. I believe this is important in every aspect.

  • Email deliverability
  • Ease of use
  • Increased understanding of incoming new leads and management of those leads
  • Creation of landing pages, email drip campaigns, forms and marketing collateral that is dynamic and effective
  • Customer Service, on-boarding process, continuing advice and support, overall community atmosphere
  • Information seamlessly syncs with Salesforce so that your business can run more effectively

Cons

  • User interface is not intuitive. Personally I have no issues because I have used it for so long. All new users have a long learning curve to get up to speed and comfortable running reports to meet their needs.
  • Support has become abysmal over the years. Omniture used to offer great support, fast and helpful. Adobe support has errored very quickly with extremely long response delays, unhelpful responses. To be fair, certain support cases are resolved quickly and efficiently. But the majority over the past 2 years have been a dreadful experience with many of those tickets still outstanding and unresolved.
  • Improve consistency in user experience. Many tools that Adobe offers are seemingly built upon different platforms which result in a very disjointed user experience and inconsistent usability.

  • Email templates can be difficult to use at times (we use HTML editors to import our email creatives).
  • Navigation can be difficult, as well as knowing exactly what some functions actually do.
  • Exporting a contact's activities is not available, just the generic and custom fields you create (you can usually work around this by setting up several completion actions).

We're embedded within the Adobe ecosystem with - Adobe Analytics, Target and CQ5/AEM. With all these tools implemented correctly and with the right team there's real opportunity to leverage insight and drive revenue. Moreover with the more advanced features enabled there's possibility to replace other reporting systems and reduce internal resources

For anyone that is not technology adverse, this software is pretty inventive and easy to use and implement. You really can't "break" it. You just need to dig in and try a it. Make mistakes and figure out how to fix them. If you get really stuck the chat feature is always available and the team seems to be very helpful and knowledgeable

Reliability and Availability

Adobe SiteCatalyst has great actual uptime in the most standard sense, but long lag times in data during critical time periods (i.e. Holidays) I would consider to be an issue with availability.

There have been a couple of service incidents over the past few months. I'm not sure if it has to do with Pardot integrating their infrastructure with ExactTarget. However, they responded well with proactive communication and a debrief as to what happened.

Support

Customer service has always been the Achilles heel for this product. Support is often slow to respond, if at all. Account management has seemed to get better recently.

Pardot support is tremendous. The knowledge base and in-application targeted help articles and videos are thorough and straightforward. If those don't do it, Pardot has office hours every business day with members of the team available to answer anything. I've called twice and they are incredibly helpful.

In-Person Training

Adobe Analytics3.6
Based on 3 answers
Myself and others have found the in-person training ok, but not outstanding. Trainers are good at explaining how to use the product features, but sometimes lack "real-world" experience on how to use the product as they are people who have often not previously been web analysts. There is also a shortcoming in company-provided training on advanced uses of the product. The implementation training is very good.

The trainers at the Pardot user conference (Elevate and Connections) were very knowledgeable and presented the material well. Again, the content was targeted to more of a new user audience, and was not really relevant for folks who had been using the product for 2+ years.

Online Training

Adobe Analytics8.0
Based on 4 answers
The online training for Adobe SiteCatalyst consists of short product videos. These are ok, but only go so far. For a while Adobe charged a fee for this, but recently made these available for free. There are many great blog posts that help users learn how to apply the product as well.

Pardot8.1

Pardot's online training touches on all topics briefly and vaguely without much indepth exploration into how a final outcome could look, such as Nurturing Campaigns, Email templates, landing page templates, etc...The only true way to uncover Pardot's full capabilities is to have Front End design and coding experience. Without this key skill set, I would not recommend Pardot to another business.

Implementation

Adobe Analytics8.0

The success of implementations depend primarily on the solution design, and also on the ability to work with developers to get the solution implemented correctly. This is not an aspect of the product per se.

Alternatives Considered

I have just recently started to evaluate GA and reserve judgement at this time to compare it against Adobe Analytics. That said, the usability and user experience of the GA platform is much more intuitive and user friendly. The ability to customize GA seems comparable to Adobe Analytics. I have not yet had gone through a support experience with GA.

I used ExactTarget in a company that had a large B2C focus, as well as a B2B. If sending large volumes of emails to consumers, ET is the solution of choice. Pardot is a better fit if you're looking at smaller volumes and if you need interaction with the sales team based on prospect actions. Pardot enables marketing - sales communications.

Return on Investment

  • It had positive impact in terms of providing detailed audience lists, which made it possible to hit better ROI by delivering cheap conversions
  • It gives a lot of information about landing pages performance, which helps us decide to which pages to concentrate the traffic

  • We experienced faster lead conversion almost straight away after utilising Pardot tracking. It gave us insight we'd never had before.
  • More information about a lead's activities means Sales can have far more targeted conversations.
  • We've begun using Pardot for helpdesk and support communication on top of our marketing and sales. It's a game changer in this respect.
