AgoraPulse

For a social media manager with numerous clients, it's a no-brainer. It makes juggling multiple accounts so simple, and almost fun! The reporting features are adequate, and it's very strong on team collaboration. On the other hand, for an individual business managing just a few social media profiles, I'd consider AgoraPulse to be more of a luxury than a necessity. It will certainly save you a lot of time, so it really comes down to how much your time is worth. Lastly, for those who focus the majority of their efforts on Instagram Stories, this may not be the tool for you - at least not in its present form.

Buffer

It is suited for anyone in social media and quite frankly any business that wants their departments, teams and employees to participate and collaborate about social posts. There is a neat feature that allows team leads to approve posts before they go live. That is a life saver. The biggest questions to ask are - Does it cover everything we need and does it make our day to day lives easier? Are we okay with pre-scheduling and monitoring as we go? How much do we want to spend? Do we need to pay for everyone? To us, Buffer has provided us with extra value and time. It was a no-brainer

Pros

  • Puts all your socials content into one very easy to use place including paid content.
  • Automated profanity rules that can be used to either stop certain comments before they happen or identify important ones that use positive messaging like 'love, live'
  • allows multiple people to work as a team without stepping on each others' toes.

  • Scheduling: In social media it is critical to post regular updates but not become that annoying person or business that posts the days or even weeks updates back to back and appears spammy. Buffer allows users to pre-set times and dates in advance or on the spot for posts that are being placed in the feeder. For example: I have a new company blog I want to share. I open buffer queue and enter my status update. Then I can chose where I want to post it (FB, Twitter, G+ page, LI) and next I can pick a time and date. I can also change it up and schedule the Twitter update for noon today, the FB update for 4pm tomorrow and the LI update for Monday at 9am based on my audience behavior. In the remaining time I can schedule generic posts to appear engaged.
  • Reporting: The weekly and monthly report is awesome. It is very detailed, easy to understand. The free version has a report as well but it is not as detailed as obviously the paid version.
  • Price: You cannot beat the price from a company or honestly even a personal standpoint. It is extremely affordable for the service you receive in addition to their amazing customer service.
  • Customer Service: They are by far some of the best in the world when it comes to customer service and appreciation. Even if you use their free app they still answer your questions or concerns with lightning speed and such a friendliness that you can't possibly leave upset. Their mission is to provide the best and more and they achieved it.

Cons

  • The mobile app could catch up with the desktop version but it still has all the basic functionality and doesn't slow you down.
Jayden Andersen profile photo
  • Analytics - no analytics on posts or pages
  • Two-Way communication - on similar platforms, you can communicate/respond to your audience on the site, this is NOT the case with Buffer
  • No team access - Buffer doesn't allow permissions or different roles for team members

The price is right, the platform is a performer and the staff at AgoraPulse is unparalleled. They also have a great blog that is highly topical---keeps me on top of social media. It's the best social media blog I have found---and I read a lot of blogs!

Buffer allows you to easily share anything with the click of a button. The items you add to your Buffer account are shared at the best times throughout the day to reach the most people possible. It would be extremely tedious to have to share all these things manually throughout all the social media sites. With Buffer, it makes it extremely easy and simple to have a steady stream of content scheduled to go out to all your social media accounts. This is the best way to keep your visitors engaged and up-to-speed on what you are currently doing in your business.

Alternatives Considered

I tried a few similar tools before I discovered AgoraPulse. Buffer and Post Planner are both good at what they do but ultimately fall short for managing multiple clients. Granted, they're also more affordable - great if you need something simple and you only have a few personal profiles to manage. I also tried Hootsuite, but it's just not for me. I'm sure it's a great tool for many, but I find it needlessly complex with a clunky interface. It's not nearly as intuitive as AgoraPulse, and quite frankly it's just not a good value for small and medium-sized agencies.

I used Hootsuite before and it was a good tool, but the UI and overall UX wasn't that great. Hootsuite did the job, but it wasn't as enjoyable to use it as it's with Buffer. So the main reason I selected Buffer is the user experience and it being an easy-to-use product.

Return on Investment

  • They've doubled our Facebook likes within a year. We're not sure how to monetize that, but with the reach we're getting, we are certain that our AgoraPulse efforts coupled with all our social media properties is a huge asset in growing our brand.
  • We have a very difficult brand to make sexy or appealing, as we are a B2B wholesaler---nothing sexy about that! On Facebook, through AgoraPulse, we have chosen to build trust with our audience, and not concerned about turning all of our efforts into leads. Non-profits are a huge part of our business and we reach out to them with our monthly contests.
