Hiver

Any work environment where more than one team member is able to address certain customer requests. We used to use Groups, but then it was confusing as to whether or not someone responded, and we needed more transparency between team members. Another example is a person emailing with a billing question. We used to reply and add the billing department's email address or forward the email to billing, but with Hiver, simply assigning it to the billing HIVER Inbox allows anyone to reply directly to the customer without the issue of either the customer or team member remembering to reply all or accidentally replying only to the team member forwarding the email.

Our thinking is contained by the medium we use to express it. If you're stuck in a Kanban or Gantt or Word document view, your thinking will be limited by the visual structure you're working in. So at the beginning of a project, when you're starting from zero and need to stay mentally flexible, Miro provides a wide open interface that doesn't restrict your ideating.

Pros

Hiver

  • It's easy to set up, and manage ongoing.
  • The customer service and support is amazing- I get check ins, quick responses to enquiries and extras from time to time.
  • It knows what it's doing- it's here to take the issue of gmail not being the best when it comes to shared inboxes and it has provided the perfect solution!

Cons

Hiver

  • There is currently no way to create a support ticket unless related to an email already received. It would be extremely beneficial to be able to take a call and create a support ticket within HIVER based on the call in the same manner that we can create a ticket from an inbound email.

Miro

  • Partnership with task management companies like GTD and Panda to leverage solid process in a single platform
  • It would be great to see more flexibility and clarity around how boards and teams are organized; frequently at an organization-wide level, people inadvertently overshare or leave off stakeholders
  • Easier to manage overall UI color schemes

It's intuitive for the most part but some elements are a little clunky to work with. Particularly, resizing text, aligning boxes, and spacing things out evenly can be challenging without alignment and measurement functionalities. The tool is probably designed for more scrappy, rapid mapping rather than polished, final deliverables, so the usability for that use case is pretty good.

I have not yet had to engage support live. I have found every answer I needed by tapping the extensive knowledge base. I think they are taking the right approach in allowing me to self serve when I need some info. I will update my review if and when I need to tap a live representative.

Alternatives Considered

Hiver

Hiver was the only option we looked at. There didn't appear to be many alternatives in the market

Web-based collaboration tools are so much better. The fact that anyone (on any type of device) and collaborate instantly is really important. Being cloud-based, and having all of the diagrams in the cloud at all times is another huge win over these other tools. Licensing and pricing are so much more economical over the other solutions.

Return on Investment

Hiver

  • Hiver has increased the efficiency by which we address emailed questions and concerns.
  • Hiver increases transparency between team members.
  • Information pertinent to one or more team members is searchable by all applicable team members making it easier to research a situation that otherwise could have been stored in details across separate member email histories.

Miro

  • Increased visibility. Even though we're a small business, we operate across three cities in Australia. It's made our product and service development more agile and faster.
  • It's given scope to bring in more consultants into our business. We have a few people who are on the fringe, who may come and go depending on what projects we're doing. Miro has given us a space where they can contribute more and create business opportunities for themselves.
