What is Shopify?
As a SaaS, Shopify's stability and always-on availability are touted. The eCommerce site presents the customary inventory and presentation controls typical of eCommerce solutions. Items are organized into collections, or using smart collections customize groupings to fit the merchandise (e.g. less than $20 items, gift ideas, bundles, etc.). Content management features (e.g. a blog) are present for tailoring the look and interactivity of the site.
For selling online, the $14 Starter pack includes a basic eCommerce site with 1GB of storage, chat & email support, and support for 25 listings. The $29 Basic pack includes POS and unlimited products, as well as fraud analysis tools. The $79 Professional Pack bumps storage space from 1GB to 5GB and adds gift cards, professional reports, and abandoned cart recovery. Finally, Unlimited, at $179 per month, makes space unlimited, and provides advanced reporting and real-time carrier shipping.

(1-25 of 66)Shopify is the way to go!
- One of the best strengths is being able to upload your entire store to Shopify. I am able to control what items go online, how much they are and even set specific shipping parameters.
- The vast ability to change your website is an excellent plus. If I feel we need a full makeover of the website, I can simply go into the tools section and choose a different face for the front of the website. I can then customize it with different colors and fonts whatever way I want.
- The support staff associated with Shopify is amazing. I have been in several group chats where individuals have helped with any questions we have had from shipping prices to set up a new page.
- One con would be that there is so much in Shopify that it can be confusing to someone. It takes a lot of practice and can lead to frustration if you do not understand what you are doing.
Shopify Makes Selling, Easy
- Easily navigate through a purchase
- Easy set-up
- Great customer experience
- Better metrics dashboard to track real-time sales
- Back end is insanely easy to use.
- Follows best practices.
- Depending on the template you use, the front end looks just as good as any high-end website.
- Customer service is always extremely helpful.
- Not the most inventory-friendly solution; we spend an additional $90 a month on an app for purchase orders (PO's) which is kind of ridiculous.
- Not friendly for shipping either; we spend an additional $40-$60 a month for ShipStation which allows us to print FedEx Labels.
- Exporting reports and .CSV files could use a little work; it's not always as easy as it could be.

Best E-commerce store creation platform
- It is easy to set up, the dashboard is easy to handle, designed with modern techniques so that we cannot have any problem while using this platform.
- Integration with other software is amazing.
- There are a lot of themes available for store creation which helps a lot in designing a store easily according to the needs.
- It allows us to have several payment gateways on the store for receiving the payment which makes it greater.
- The main drawback that Shopify has is that it lacks good apps to manage the software for free.
- Shopify has different apps which are best to run the store on max strength but they are very costly like inventory management, generating multiple discount codes, and more robust customizable editing.
Shopify is the ecommerce solution
- You easily make changes and create product pages without a lot of effort.
- The website as a whole is very easy to set up initially.
- It is a low-code environment and you can make a lot of custom changes.
- Some better tutorials and guides for going through Shopify's own liquid language.
- The need for a new separate language is probably needed, but it does require a developer for major changes.
Sell online with Shopify
- Logistics for seeing and getting out orders is super
- You can integrate with other software like printing on demand and more
- You don't need to be an expert in code to be able to operate and make simple customizations
- You have to buy any custom templates and they can be pretty expensive
- Beginning template options are not the best
Excellent tool for selling online
- It is definitely easy to set up and get going. This does not take a lot of work or effort on the user end, especially if using templates.
- Low code platform. You can. make customizations without code.
- The integrations are diverse and increase functionality.
- The templates could definitely be improved.
- If you do need to make significant changes it requires learning the Shopify language.
Shopify makes selling online easy
- Shopify does customer service extremely well. Their team is always available and super helpful and knowledgable.
- They have every integration imaginable so if Shopify itself does not offer what you like, I am sure you can still find an integration to do so.
- The time it takes to set up a new store is extremely minimal which is a huge plus.
- The interface makes sense and is easy to use.
- Further sales analytics such as projections based on traffic, etc. would be helpful.
- The included templates could be better for sure.
- Price can add up if you are including all necessary plugins, etc.
Great product and service for selling online
- Great integrations like printful, etc. for clothing creation.
- Very streamlined from both the company and customer sides.
- The customer service is absolutely awesome and available 24/7.
- The only thing that could use improvement is the cost. It does cost a lot to be able to run the site as a whole when you include the Shopify subscription as well as all of the other subscriptions that it takes to be able to run the website.
Best E-commerce platform for creating online stores
- I have been using this Shopify for the last 2 years. I have been working on Shopify a lot and creating different e-commerce stores for my organization.
- Automation is effective and integration with extensions creates easiness.
- Easy to setup everything, everything is on the go without any hustle or hurdles.
- Support staff is doing extremely well.
- The main drawback that I am facing in Shopify for a long time is that their sales analytics system is not up to mark. As I am using Shopify to run different stores for my organization it does not get updated after-sales and does not provide the right analytics about the product strength and number of sales.
- Secondly, Shopify has different apps which are best to run the store on max strength but they are very much costly like inventory management, generating multiple discount codes, and more robust customizable editing.
Shopify is an excellent solution.
- It is very easy to use and the interface is easy to browse through and figure out.
- Training our team does not take much time as there is not a huge learning curve.
- Putting products up doesn't take a lot of time and is easy to do.
- Managing inventory is easy.
- The price is a bit high compared to other platforms out there.
- Making customizations could be a bit easier.
- Learning Shopify language sometimes required.
- The pricing model for Shopify is competitive and makes sense for a growing business as the plans are scalable.
- Great prebuilt themes! There aren't too many to overwhelm you and waste your time in choosing but enough to fit most business needs.
- Shopify is really straightforward to use, it has a clean, intuitive and HCI focused interface.
- There are some interface issues with product images like with drag and drop that could be improved.
- Transaction fees. Shopify encourages the use of Shopify Payments and if you aren't using them, there are fees assessed that are in addition to the payment processor fee, this is an issue sometimes as Shopify Payments isn't available everywhere.
- Multi Language support isn't included in the basic packaging. You can integrates apps and more difficult to use templates to resolve this matter, but in our case, most were expensive and clunky solutions.
Shopify Review
- Scalability.
- Easy to customise.
- Integration with other software is comparatively easy.
- Managing Website is easy.
- Site speed slows down for certain plugins.
- Additional costs incurred for additional features.
- There is a lot of scope of improvement in SEO.
- Reporting on Inventory Management.
According to me, using a platform like Shopify can be appropriate on almost all type of business owners as long as they get to learn about the platform well.
Sell online easily.
- Shopify has a great support team and a great platform.
- The interface makes the site easy to customize and make changes.
- Allows you to not have to pay a developer to makes changes, etc.
- They could have better templates that are provided up front.
- Some customization requires coding to change.
- If you are coding, there is the need to learn Shopify's language.
- Easy to implement.
- The app marketplace.
- The whole end-to-end solution.
- lack of good payment gateways for Latin America.
- no recurrent payments option in the core functionality
- POS doesn't work in Latin America.
Besides time, Shopify is a very cost-effective tool since they take care of all the technology and security. You just need to learn how to sell your products online.
Plug, play, and start selling
It is used mainly by our marketing department but the product team also uses it to make sure they take full advantage of Shopify's integrations to boost sales and help on the upselling of our most-sold products.
- Integration with Facebook and other social platforms is fantastic.
- Constant product improvements.
- Great support team to help with product knowledge.
- Cost of the custom templates is very high at $180 USD.
- Affiliate platform integration is quite complicated.
- Analytics system and forecasting need to be improved to calculate my expected monthly sales.
For big companies that need a stronger, more customizable, and more robust e-commerce solution I would go with Magento or another alternative that can be totally customizable.
Shopify Can Do It - If You Have the Budget
- Built for online retail. Products are quick to load in if you have a spreadsheet and not too many products.
- Quick setup of a website.
- Low cost to try out, at least at first.
- Shopify uses a plug in for every little function you want to add. It doesn't do even some very basic things you would expect out of the box. Almost everything needs a plugin.
- Plugins can be costly and of inconsistent quality. The price seems low when you start building but then adds up quickly when you really start to try to bring a fully functional website to completion.
- It is not easy to customize plug-ins to your needs and it takes a long time to review all the plugin options to figure out which one might actually serve your needs adequately.
- Shopify was not very friendly for managing lots of products. If you get up over 400-500 it doesn't support them very well, at least not without hiring programmers and putting a lot more money into it.
Shopify for easy e-store management
- Designs are excellent and mobile-friendly
- Flexible core system and templates
- 24/7 customer support
- URL structure is not ideal for SEO
- Multi language is not a standard feature
- Processing fees are high
Best for Beginners in E-Commerce Sphere
- Easy setup for the un-tech-savvy.
- Allows for contact info capture to build customer lists for later communications.
- Allows for easy setup of promo code discounts.
- Shopify charges a transaction fee if not using Shopify Payments
- Additional features mean additional costs.
- Other e-commerce options may provide greater inventory management features.
Shopify: The Rocket Booster of E-Commerce
- The Shopify platform has built-in templates which are offered either for free or for a price so that the look of a site can be customized. Even after choosing a template, the platform allows for a great deal of customization in terms of colors and the order of certain features on the page.
- Even though Shopify is a subscription service, it has some very flexible options for stopping the service for specific lengths of time with varying permissions. For example, if a small business owner needs to step away from the business and not have the store "open', they can do so for up to 3 months at no cost as long as certain conditions have been met. These options are worth checking out especially for seasonal businesses.
- The availability of the Shopify Partners program is also a great help for customers who might not have the knowledge or time to build the site themselves. For businesses that offer developer services, it is also a good way to help potential customers.
- Shopify is affordable if you just need the basics for your store. However, once you start to customize it or try to add more features you can quickly find yourself paying additional monthly charges. While this good for the developers who invest time and effort to build apps for Shopify, it can leave businesses spending more than they intended or going without certain features.
- While Shopify offers backup and restore options for sites if you need to leave the platform completely and return later, leaving the platform to move your data to another platform isn't very easy. This means that businesses need to think carefully about what they will need in the long term before committing their resources to Shopify.
- On the ability to customize, Shopify has made great improvements in the selection of available themes and apps but the selection is nowhere near as diverse as other popular e-commerce platforms. So again as a business person, you need to carefully consider what your e-commerce roadmap looks like in terms of features and functionality. Shopify may be ideal to get most businesses started, but may not scale well as the business grows.
