Overall Satisfaction with Basecamp

Basecamp is used to organize tasks and increase transparency and accountability across the administration of the company. Each department uses the program to manage the way that works best for them. For my department, I use it to track current digital projects, including a new website revamp, social media campaigns, and sales and marketing alignment activities.

  • Better tutorials/education on best practices.
  • Templates.
  • Personalization.
  • Helped to identify ROI on the marketing function for a small business.
  • Highlighted the need for help on different projects and which were sandbagging.
It is good for small businesses with definable tasks and deadlines. I wouldn't use it as a one-stop-shop for all my management needs.
Support and their knowledge base are decent, would have liked to see more tutorials and best practices.
I have made the switch to Trello - I prefer the templates and community aspect; my organization uses JIRA to manage the tasks and handoffs between the various stages of a client project; we are using BetterWorks to manage overall business goals and quarterly objectives.
Basecamp is great for managing tasks with specific goals with deadlines. I wouldn't use it for business planning or strategy. Perfect for small companies or teams as it might get unwieldy for bigger groups.
