Overall Satisfaction with Concur Travel and Expense

Concur is used company wide. I have used Concur many time to request and schedule travel for work purposes. It is a powerful tool to help manage a lot of travel within our company.
  • I personally like the ability to store all my frequent flier numbers, etc, as well as my travel preferences. That helps me to quickly set up a trip without a lot of hassle.
  • I also like the ability to store all my travel preferences. I don't have a lot of exceptions to request, but it is nice to have them preset so I don't have to enter them for each trip.
  • It is also nice to be able to prioritize companies that I use most often for airlines, hotels, and rental cars. An individual trip may not allow a certain carrier, so it is nice to be able to list them in order of preference, when needed.
  • The software may have been updated since I used it last, but I recall during initial setup, not knowing where and when to put my priorities and preference information. Initial setup seemed to be less intuitive than I would like.
  • I used to travel a lot and had to submit several expense reports per month. I did not use Concur at that time and using it now has saved me hours of work and would have made a huge time, effort and cost savings in the past.
  • Since I can submit the reports so much faster than with previous companies, I get reimbursed 1 week to 10 days faster than before.
Previously I used home grown software or Microsoft Office/Excel to submit travel expense reports. Although these seemed simpler, it actually took me more time to tabulate and summarize my expenses. At that time, I also did not have the ability to take a photo and attach it at the single expense level. I didn't choose Concur, but wisely my last 3 employers did, and I am grateful.
We have used PeopleSoft but I was not involved with the integration portion of travel expenses, so I don't have significant feedback here.
I really like the ability to pattern an upcoming trip after a previous one. That one feature along with all the saved preferences has helped me use Concur with much less stress than other products.
I am merely a travelling user, so my perspective is that it works as it should, I rarely have surprises in creating and submitting a report, and after the first 1 or 2 reports I have created, I have never had to ask for help from my manager or other power user.
I used it primarily for business travel, so it was great to be able to get in and set up a new trip rather quickly, particularly when I was travelling a lot.

The ability to add expenses and attaching the corresponding receipt image was very helpful. I have often taken photos and attached them to a specific receipt while waiting for shuttles, etc.

It kind of lets me do that clerical work on my lap in places I wouldn't be able to with previous travel and expense tools.

My trips have been pretty standard, without trying to stretch the system with going out in one linked list of cities and coming back via a different route, so I can't speak to Concur's ability to handle that.
