Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox

We use Dropbox across the whole organization as a supplemental storage and sharing tool. The general functionality is not my favorite but it’s used to share with vendors where larger files are common (videos, print) and Dropbox is the standard.
  • Dropbox offers quick cloud storage that’s easy to share particular files and folders.
  • It is reasonably priced given the amount of storage you get.
  • It shows revisions and new versions of documents and files so you’re able to stay up to date on the newest version of anything within an organization.
  • Dropbox does not have simple way to manage one set of files within an organization. If a new main folder is created, you have to make sure to share it with everyone involved.
  • It unnecessarily selects files when they are uploaded or changed which makes it clunky to use when you’re working quickly. I wish I could turn this feature off.
  • The sync/backup to a computer is terrible and bogs down your computer.
  • There is no way to edit anything simple in a basic doc from right in Dropbox so you have to edit it outside and upload it again. It’s easy to forget to upload it if you don’t have sync on, which is bad for consistency across an organization.
  • The drag and drop for organizing files does not work well. You often have to physically select “move” and select a new location even for a single file.
  • Dropbox hasn’t had a direct role in ROI but it has helped us manage our larger assets, such as videos, and share them when needed.
Dropbox is a bit more user-friendly and more widely accepted with our vendors. It also offers more security than alternatives.
Dropbox is great for those looking for a highly useful cloud storage, especially if those in your organization are dealing with large files that need to be shared. It’s even better if your team has fast computers with plenty of storage so you can utilize sync features. It is not great for anyone looking for cloud storage where you can collaborate since there is no real time editing of documents. In that case, it would require the sync feature have great discipline to ensure everyone has the most recent version of a file.

Using Dropbox

6 - All roles utilize Dropbox: admin, design, marketing, management.
Only very basic computer knowledge is necessary. It functions as your files would that live on your computer.
  • Video and other large file storage
  • Print file organization for sharing with vendors
  • Sharing videos straight to an audience without having to upload elsewhere, like a specific video platform.
Dropbox is one of the best tools in its industry, even if it is lacking in certain ways and isn’t the most user friendly. It’s one of the best of what’s abailable.

There is no training required for Dropbox. It functions very simply and anyone with basic knowledge of computer files could figure it out along with all its features.

Using Dropbox

It’s easy to use at all levels. Doesn’t take any training or special skill. A couple quirks make it less simple than I’d like but overall it’s simple.

Yes - Works as expected. Relatively easy to use, and functions just like the web version.
