Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Ustream across our entire college to video stream all of our major ensemble concerts (orchestra, choir, bands); all of our major sporting events (e.g., basketball; hockey; volleyball); some educational lectures; and all of our recitals. It is an essential way of maintaining relationships with our families and alums across the world.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Capacity for unlimited viewers . . . we've never had a problem with bandwidth in spite of having literally 1000s of views for some events.
Ease of use for our technical staff and for our students who often 'man' the streaming equipment.
Technical support is available as needed . . . although, honestly, we've rarely needed to contact support.

Cons

Sorry, but we've had no issues worthy of highlighting.

Likelihood to Recommend

As I noted earlier, streaming of concerts, recitals, sporting events, and academic lectures from on campus and from remote sites are possible. We do not have to worry about bandwidth as long as we have an adequate [connection] to create a single stream.
