Overall Satisfaction with LogicMonitor
As a managed services provider, we require the best monitoring tool to provide world-class services to our clients. The tool must be easy to deploy, maintain, and manage. The solution must also be current with the market trends and stay ahead of the ever-changing technology market. Most importantly, the user experience must be intuitive, easy to understand, and feature-rich. We deploy LogicMonitor to over 150+ clients across North America and it is the core monitoring tool we use to meet all of the requirements mentioned above and more.
Pros
- Monitoring of on-prem, cloud, and SAAS-based solutions across hundreds of different technologies.
- Provides notification and alerting in the event an asset is experiencing a service impacting situation
- Real-time dashboards and reporting to see analytics across business systems
Cons
- Because of the rapid change in technology, maintaining DataSources to the most current level can be time-consuming for staff.
- The network discovery and mapping capabilities are not as robust when compared to other solutions
- While it can back-up configuration files on devices, it does not have the ability to push or modify configuration files back to devices.
- We Eliminated an on-prem monitoring tool which was in excess of 25 servers
- A decrease in time to response from our Network Operations Center resulted in a more consistent client experience
- Dynamic alert thresholds helped reduce alerting by about 10 to 15% as soon as we turned it on for volatile metrics like CPU and memory
We monitor thousands of devices using LogicMonitor, including but not limited to servers, network, storage, cloud assets, SAAS platforms like M365, and business applications. These devices are geographically distributed across the globe. Many of our clients have hybrid environments consisting of legacy on-prem devices and modern cloud platform technology.
As an IT services provider, we help hundreds of organizations annually with their cloud adoption strategy. LogicMonitor plays a crucial part in our clients' cloud migration strategy. As part of our managed services, it is not uncommon for organizations to not have started their cloud journey, are early or are pretty far down the path but need help navigating. We help support organizations and deploy LogicMonitor regardless of where the client is on that journey. Since LogicMonitor immediately starts collecting analytics across the entire technology stack, it is easy to understand what the client has from an inventory perspective and monitor/control the information along their journey. LogicMonitor helps build up the client's configuration management database (CMDB) to ensure we have an accurate inventory of configuration items (CIs).
The core automation capability we leverage in LogicMonitor is network configuration management backups. While we had a previous platform doing the same thing, it was cumbersome to manage two tools with the same asset record information. More importantly, we paid for a secondary solution that overlapped with the LogicMonitor platform. By consolidating things into LogicMonitor, we could perform monitoring and backup functions of network assets across our clients.
Our initial business requirements in 2016 were to monitor Vblock and FlexPod deployments. We had specific gaps with particular storage appliances the monitoring tool we used at that time could not monitor effectively. When evaluating the mentioned solutions, LogicMonitor was the strongest in this space.
