Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

We use Marketo as our Marketing Automation Platform. The primary uses are for tracking various campaigns and nurturing our prospects. For us, it helps us with getting campaigns launched and also more accurately measuring the success of those campaigns.
  • Email campaigns: They are very easy to set up, and they provide full flexibility in terms of templates, etc.
  • Nurturing: Also relatively easy to set up these types of campaigns. Can really get some complex-type tracks if needed, but we do more basic nurturing with ours.
  • Results tracking: The ability to create smart lists using various types of logic and capture different bits of data really helps us determine what's working and what isn't.
  • User interface: It can be a bit clunky from time to time. Also, sometimes it's hard to determine why I can't do things in certain sections that I can in others.
  • Reporting: I feel like I can do a lot more with Smart Lists than I can with the actual reporting section.
  • Customer support: I've sometimes had issues getting the right answers to questions I have.
  • Product Launches
  • Prospecting / New Business
For product launches, we are basically just trying to get the word out to prospects and clients. For prospecting, we'd ideally want demos and trial requests.
To me, Marketo seemed a bit more targeted to enterprise needs than Hubspot. I felt a bit more limited by the landing page functionalities and emailing capabilities of Hubspot. However, I admit that it may simply be that I am more familiar with Marketo as I worked with it over a much longer time period.
If all your doing is sending basic email newsletters, Marketo would probably be unnecessary. It's pricey and has a lot of functionality that would go unused. But if you're using an array of channels as part of your marketing efforts, then Marketo helps keep it all in one place. The different program types generally work for the tasks they are dedicated too and I like being able to see how campaigns are doing in one central spot.
