Overall Satisfaction with Miro
I work in digital product design and we use Miro in the early stages of our work, before we start creating wireframes or screens. To start we use it to gather ideas from a group, organize those thoughts and synthesize our work. In this use case Miro is very easy to use because a large group of people can be collaborating in one space and the tools Miro has (sticky notes, reactions, timer, etc.) are perfect for brainstorming. After that we typically do all of our rough work in Miro, such as creating user flows, mapping our journeys or storyboards, and early design work. The flexibility Miro has is why it is good for all of these different design activities. I will say once we have a good foundation for what we are designing, we will typically then shift to Figma to create the polished work because that's where you design system lives, and I think that's okay because that isn't what Miro is meant for anyways. We also use Miro for customer research - planning, notetaking, and synthesis.
- The tools such as sticky notes, shapes, arrows and text are very easy to use and move around. Plus the ability to group and lock things
- It does not crash when multiple people are using it at the same time and collaborating in one space. It feels very real-time.
- The templates are great for providing a starting place for journey maps and other design best practices.
- Because the canvas is so big sometimes there are sizing issues and it makes navigation a little tricky.
- Copying and pasting from one board to another can be tricky but that is probably just due to my organization and the security level on each board.
- Sometime I have trouble importing images into Miro due to the limited size. Exporting also leads to low image quality sometimes.
- Increased collaboration tenfold
- Increased the diversity of thoughts and people that were included in the ideation phases
- Increased visibility into work because people felt more comfortabe sharing work in the early messy phases as opposed to waiting and creating a polished powerpoint or document
100% positively. We collaborate mostly remotely, across teams and the country and Miro has helped and encouraged different groups to come together. It wasn't just having a whiteboard tool that resulted in this either, previously my company used Bluescape and because it was so hard to use and inflexible, people just hated using it. So because Miro is so easy to use, more people have been excited to use it and hold sessions that bring groups together.
Everything about Miro is better. Bluescape had limited object tools, always froze, was jittery when you tried to move things around, and overall was disliked by everyone in the company. When one group began using Miro, everyone else wanted to use it too, which ultimately led the a corporate account with Miro and dropping Bluescape
