Overall Satisfaction with Parallels Remote Application Server

We publish our ERP systems through RAS to remote users. This includes our branch offices, roaming users, and remote locations. For some of the critical users, we also publish desktop for ease of use to the WAN sales teams as well. Without 2X it was difficult for us to provide ERP connection to the remote users.
  • Remote Application Publish.
  • Local and Remote Printing Support.
  • Application Permission Management.
  • Remote Administration.
  • Folder Redirection.
  • Application Launch Speed.
  • Some reports of ERP running very slow using Parallels Remote Application Server.
  • Excellent Support at both the levels, Pre-sales and Post-sales.
  • RAS server can handle max 30-40 users. More users need to create another RAS server.
  • Some printing issues are observed which can slowdown application performance.
The least prerequisites for RAS server compare to other solutions. Server configuration is totally based on user load. Licensing model is impressive. The most important factor for us was the support. Parallels Remote Application Server support is more than expected and all engineers are well trained. If required even the sales team can support technical issues to push it to the next level.
Our ERP system was legacy (server-client base) and it was almost impossible that remote users can access it on the fly. RAS solution was the only way we can run. We have been using Citrix and Parallels Remote Application Server for many years. Later on, we found to completely migrate to Parallels Remote Application Server as it is much easier to administrate and maintain.
We have tested and run the application on multiple platforms. This included various Windows OS versions, Android devices, and iOS as well. On all platforms, 2X is running smoothly without any issues.

We are finding issues with printing but that could be the issue at the ERP level as well. Hence, full point in terms of compatibility.
Unfortunately, we have not used Parallels Remote Application Server for Hyper-V or VMWare. But we have published User Profiles through RAS.
Parallels Remote Application Server 2X clients are secure so far we never had a security breach at any level. However, we are not using MFA. Login permission is based on the AD profile. We will learn more about RAS security and will implement it with the help of the support team.

Yes

In short, we have replaced Citrix with Parallels Remote Application Server. This is because the 2X server is easy to install, deploy, and configure. Application performance is much better than in earlier experiences. Local printing availability is very steady. On top of that server requirements and resources are minimal compared to Citrix. Licensing cost is almost similar to Citrix however, in Citrix we needed two servers - application and RAS.
