Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
We use this product daily. We use Time & Labor, HR, and other functions. We have been impressed with the ease of use. The only problem we have is not being able to make bonus deposits to accounts that have preset amounts for deposits. Live checks still have to be generated. Implementation should have gone a little smoother, but due to changes in employees here and at Paylocity, we had a little bit of a later start than expected. I would still recommend it 9 times out of 10. I love that reports can be customized to our liking. We still have to work out a few items, but we are very pleased with the product.
Pros
- Ease of use
- Reports
- Quick responses from customer service
Cons
- Ability to generate Bonus checks to ONE account of the employees choice.
- Longer implementation period.
- Direct Lines or e-mail addresses to representatives.
- Reduced errors noted
- Reduced time expenditures
- More consistent processes
I like that employees can go in there and key in edit requests. This eliminates the notes, texts, and phone calls to our department. It gives them a little bit of control and accountability.
We have not used many of the tools as of yet.
Paylocity is a MUCH better platform. With Paychex, we were switched on the platforms, and it was NOT our choice... we were forced to update, and the reporting was a nightmare. They had assured us our reports would be the same, and they were not. With ADP, we would have to e-mail, and we never received timely responses. Our Service representative was out with COVID, and apparently, no one was monitoring his e-mails. We switched from Paychex Flex to ADP, and then we were told that since we hadn't signed up with ADP in January, they were not responsible for filing our own 941 reports and making the payments as well. After explaining to them that we signed up with them AFTER January, they finally agreed to file the reports and make the payments. No issues when we switched to Paylocity.

Evaluating Paylocity and Competitors
Yes - Replaced ADP. With ADP, they were not able to provide us with the reports we needed. Their customer service was not very expedient with responses. All questions needed to go through e-mail. No phone calls were answered. Reports were not accurate and they couldn't explain why. Price was also an issue.
- Ease of Use
- Other
Ease of use and price were the most important factors in our decision to switch. Training was extensive and there were scenarios that we could create to better understand the payroll process using their system. They worked tirelessly with us to accommodate all our needs. The price is well worth the product.
I wish we had known about them sooner! I spoke to friends in the same type of business and Paylocity came highly recommended. That person works in a totally different industry but understood my concerns and what we needed to get payroll and the reporting done.
Paylocity Implementation
- Implemented in-house
Yes - Implementation was broken up into several phases - we had data conversion, human resources, and time and labor. Each phase took a few weeks. We moved on once each phase was either completed or mastered. The training was done via interactive videos with the ability to ask questions while training.
Change management was a small part of the implementation and was well-handled - Communication is key! Our employees were informed of the changes, prepared with the information they needed and ready for the change when the time came. It all flowed seamlessly.
- Employees forgetting their new ID numbers.
- Employees not making sure their punches registered.
Paylocity Support
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
Quick Resolution Good followup Knowledgeable team Problems get solved Kept well informed No escalation required Immediate help available Support understands my problem Support cares about my success Quick Initial Response | None |
We did not purchase premium support. The training we had was pretty extensive. All aspects were covered and they have online classes that you can view to answer any questions you may have. I am not sure if they even offer premium support, but they provide excellent support as it is.
So, when we were getting ready to go live, one of our reps quit. I was worried the ball would get dropped with the issues she was working on with us, but not to worry! She had kept her colleagues updated on the issues and/or questions we had and everything went smoothly.
