Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity
Primarily for paying our employees, but also for employee personnel file maintenance, and benefits administration. One of our main issues was having a streamlined process from employees enrolling in benefits and the information feeding over to our other portals. We use Paylocity daily for a good majority of our day-to day functions.
Pros
- Simplifies the payroll process-from creating batches to making corrections to employees' paycheck and also calculating payout for terminated employees.
- Paylocity makes it easy to create and assign projects and department codes.
- Customizability. We are able to pretty much customize anything to our company's process, such as adding additional termination reasons, specifying our time off policies and the team collaboration capabilities that are available.
Cons
- I often notice that there are glitches in the system. These are often "one-off" situations that typically happen at random. For example, sometimes when I go to change an employee's supervisor, I get an error message saying the effective date has to be prior to the employee record date; which doesn't make sense to me to update a change that "happened" before the employee's record was created.
- It would be nice to receive notifications whenever there are pending employee changes. I typically don't know that an employee has made a change unless I go into that section of the website and updates like direct deposit can be held up especially since the first check after a DD change is made always has to be a paper check.
- I noticed that I can only see the project codes and employee entered on their timesheet when I'm going through their line items.
- It would be nice to be able to create offer letters in the system that would allow for multiple signatures and also be able to customize onboarding acknowledgement documents to the particular employee. For instance, we have a non-compete document that leaves the employee's name, job title and the date the non-compete went into effect. We can have the employee acknowledge that they've actually read it but we can't tailor it to each employee.
- There have been several errors with end of the year documents and open enrollment information being generated with incorrect information that had to be corrected manually.
- Better for provide information and updates to the company via the community board.
- More functionality.
With many functions within the system, it has really saved me time and effort. I can easily reach someone to get a question answered by contacting Paylocity directly or searching for an article on the topic. As I learn the system even more, I believe it will help my processes become much more streamlined.
I've used the community feature more than anything and it really help with keeping the entire organization engaged even though we do have any remote employees. Now employees know they can always go to the community board to find pinned company updates. It's also helpful that it sends employees an email whenever there's a new post just in case hadn't logged into the system that day.
We have not evaluated any other systems.
