Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

Payroll, HRIS, documentation management, and ATS
  • ATS system is efficient
  • App is user friendly for employees
  • Able to connect with outside vendors that we use for 401k, health benefits and more
  • Customer service can be slow to respond, and does not always answer the question asked.
  • There are weird limitations in payroll and some set up is complicated.
  • Employee file management could be cleaner and improved.
  • Currently, no way to send a document that needs to be signed to all or select employees. This is a simple feature that could easily be implemented.
  • More accurate payroll calculations with shift differentials
  • Improved record keeping procedures and digitization of records
  • Time saved on administrative tasks
Very positively. A lot of time is saved in these areas once the initial portion is set up. We have been able to make our department more strategic and proactive instead of reactive because we have the ability to automate so many of these processes. It has had the biggest impact on our recruitment process when we are hiring high volumes of employees at once as we are able to stay more organized and reduces paper.
We don't utilize these features as much as we should, but a lot of our employee population speaks a lot of different languages, so we can sometimes struggle to utilize these platforms because we need so many different languages to communicate with our team. But when we do post, our team does engage with them and it is great to see some community being built!
Gusto is horrible, and Paylocity blows it out of the water. Paycom and Paycor and comparable, but for us it came down to the price, and the relationship that we established with our account manager and sales representative. Mike Vezzoli was excellent and was incredibly genuine and transparent with us throughout the sales and onboarding process, which really influenced our decision. We knew what some system limitations were coming in, and this transparency was key for us.

Do you think Paylocity delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Paylocity's feature set?

Yes

Did Paylocity live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Paylocity go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Paylocity again?

Yes

I think that with better training of the system, it could be better. When the set up was done, it was all completed on the backend. There needs to be more hands on training with clients to set them up for success. It is a good system that can allow for a lot of complicated scenarios. But getting those set up can be difficult.

While there are some issues, it does the job, and generally I am happy with it. I can also see that they are always making improvements and this is the most important part. I do feel like feedback is heard from the users and taken into consideration to improve the system. No system is perfect, but not all of them take and consider user feedback in the way Paylocity does.

Evaluating Paylocity and Competitors

Yes - Gusto, it was unable to support our company growth and had minimal features in terms of data and reporting that we needed.
  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
We have a mixed workforce of admins, and a deskless workforce. We wanted something that was robust on the backend, but would have a simple, easy to use employee interface so that we could automate processes and make everything digital. Price was also important to us because we were expecting growth in the company and we wanted a sustainable p/p/m.
Nothing! We were very thorough and had all the support we needed from Paylocity to make our decision.

Paylocity Implementation

This was a while ago for me now, but it went well. I feel like there is a lot that is left to the individual to learn how to do, but the big things like payroll were implemented very well. We have added modules and had a really positive experience implementing all of those as well.
Yes - HR and Payroll Time and Labor and then all other features. There was also a data transfer process from our other HRIS system, which went well.
Change management was a small part of the implementation and was well-handled - We started talking about the change really far in advance, and really talked about the positives and how, in reality, there wasn't going to be a ton of impact to team members that most of this was on the backend. But the things that would impact the team (the mobile app) were really positive, and an improvement from our previous system.
  • Transferring data from our previous system which had difficult records
  • The amount of my time that it took to do it well

Paylocity Support

It can be hit or miss. Sometimes we get the answers we need, and other times we have to follow up on tickets like crazy. There seem to be some system bugs that cause weird issues that people can't find answers to which is understood, but more proactive follow up from reps would be great.
ProsCons
Immediate help available
Support cares about my success
Quick Initial Response
Problems left unsolved
Not kept informed
Escalation required
No, I did not know that premium support was an option, but I would pay for it!
Yes - No. We have weird issues with PTO and none of them have been resolved. We have to keep following up.
Yes! Georgia Collier is excellent. We were experiencing an issue with some forms not working correctly/ as expected and she was able to walk us through what was going wrong and help us resolve. Generally, Georgia is always responsive, attentive, and patient, helping us out, and we are grateful for her!

Using Paylocity

I give it a 7 because reporting needs a lot of work. There are a lot of reports in there that are helpful, but a lot that are not. It's also not easy to find some really simple reports that I need or as easy as I would like it to be to build custom reports. Something simple like just getting people's job titles is an endeavor to find a report that I can run that will just give me that information.
ProsCons
Like to use
Relatively simple
Easy to use
Technical support not required
Convenient
Feel confident using
Slow to learn
  • Recruitment
  • Onboarding
  • Learning
  • Payroll integration with time and labor
  • Reporting
  • Scheduling
Yes - Very well when it works! But it seems to have some bugs that we still don't have resolved since the app was updated recently.
