Overall Satisfaction with Raiser's Edge NXT

Right now, NXT is only being used as a research tool when offsite by the fund development department. Since I am the only user of both NXT and the Raiser's Edge database there really hasn't been a need to use the NXT product more than that.
  • NXT is a great tool for having a donor snapshot at your fingertips.
  • I REALLY wish that I could enter gifts and manage more of the database functions in NXT.

To date, NXT hasn't impacted the outcome of operational efficiency or reduced IT expenditure. My organization will not realize a significant cost savings until next year (year 3 in the contract). Because the platform does not allow for all of Raiser's Edge functionality (processing gifts, etc...), it does not lend itself to being "efficient" for me, since I would have to have both Raiser's Edge and NXT open and running simultaneously to utilize both applications regularly.
The analytic tools in NXT have been extremely helpful. Unfortunately, I inherited a database that had been inadequately populated, so much of the information is not necessarily adequate in determining wealth of the constituents in our database.
In 2018, the organization that I work for will be changing donor database platforms. Over the past 6 months I have evaluated several softwares and will be moving on from all Blackbaud products - including NXT.
Honestly, I don't think that NXT is beneficial to a fundraising shop as small as mine. It is a fabulous tool for shops that have many front-end fundraisers who need to be able to access pertinent donor information while off-site.

No - The needs of the organization that I currently work for do not require premium support. Outside of house donor and gift information, the database is not really used for anything else.

Using Raiser's Edge NXT

For somebody who is a long-time user of Raiser's Edge, the NXT version is not as easy to understand for a novice user as I would like. I have a background in end-user system/program training and educating users who do not have any RE background at all is more difficult than I would have expected it to be.

  • I think that adding actions is a little bit more cumbersome than in the database view (WOW, I admitted that something was actually more simple in the database view).
