Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Mainly as an e-commerce solution: product content management, order management, catalog management, management of marketing campaigns/discounts. In our case we are using it to B2B e-commerce management. Especially useful for managing stocks and variety of products. On top of that we are using it extensively for marketing campaigns management and analytics.

Scalability

It's quite suitable for product content management, by making it easier to create, manage, and organize a larger product catalog, that we faced in the past 2 years. It's also quite handy at adding new brands, product lines, or offerings. Thanks to the platform's catalog management and multi-channel support. Moreover, it's quite handy at analytics and reporting to make informed decisions.

Ease of Integration

There is already a SAP integration framework - which is a big plus. Moreover, there are quite a lot of extensions for the smooth integration. And there is quite extensive documentation.
Why not higher: time consuming integration (won't share time as it depends from case to case), and it's still SAP - therefore complexity is high as always.

Alternatives Considered

Salesforce Commerce Cloud and Oracle Commerce

Pluses:
Scalability and flexibility for mid-size and large organizations offered by SAP is quite good.
Comprehensive multi-channel support and analytics.
Integration capabilities with other SAP solutions - if you have any other SAP solutions, it will integrate like a charm.
Quite good product content management and content management in general.

Minuses:
Costs!
Complexity
Speed of updates....

Really well suitable for big enterprises and for multi-chanel retailers - there are more than enough features necessary to manage extensive product catalogs and high transaction volumes. Moreover, if you have an extensive catalog of products and digital channels like including web, mobile, social media - it's a good choice. Also consider integration and hiring professionals to make the best out of the tool.
Not appropriate for small business or e-commerce business with very limited needs (only sell, send).

Another good solution from SAP in case you already integrated couple of products from this vendor
