Overall Satisfaction with Splashtop
We use it to support employees at client companies. Employees also use it to login to their desktops or other computers that they need remote access to where a VPN isn't practical. Client employees are at various levels in the client companies from corporate to hourly workers. Tech support to clients is fast, easy and we can login after hours so that we don't disturb employee workflow. Client employees like to use it so that they can work from a remote location when necessary.
Pros
- Splashtop connects to a target computer rather quickly
- Splashtop allows me to control all facets of a target computer at an Admin level
- Splashtop doesn't require an additional download to access a target computer
- Splashtop is very secure
Cons
- We use the legacy product so multi-monitor to multi-monitor functionality would be great
- Upgrading to a newer version of Splashtop is expensive
- SOS is now a paid add-on for my subscription
- Clients are happy that we can support them almost instantly without needed to come on site
- Clients have asked us to do more work on their computers remotely and more often which means increased billing
- Clients rely on our rapid response with Splashtop which helps build a stronger relationship with them
We provide Splashtop's security specs to prospective clients or existing clients whose cyber insurances requires updates. This creates a new level of confidence with clients when they see the specs and know that their data is safe. The 2FA is at least as good as Microsoft's if not better.
It's been quite some time since we started with Splashtop but my recollection is that the onboarding wasn't very difficult. Adding client employees as remote users is a little more tedious but you have to expect that with all of the security authorizations that are needed.
Yes - Splashtop replaced LogMeIn. The latter became too expensive and too cumbersome to use. There was one or more additional downloads or hoops that made the product tedious to use.
