Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365

We use Veeam to back up all global accounts (new accounts get added automatically). [It is] used primarily for email and OneDrive backups. This greatly simplifies the process of getting Office 365 accounts deleted when employees leave. We can optionally save out backups to PST files, or restore mailboxes of recently left employees into a sub folder to their replacement's email account, etc. Gives us great flexibility not to mention important general backups. Very pleased and well worth the expense.
  • Restore to another mailbox's sub folder. Used often for past employee transition to their replacement
  • Touch less auto add of new accounts
  • It just works. Set this up over a year ago against Azure storage services. No issues at all.
  • The addition[al] expense (mostly cloud storage). I think is very safe to say it is less costly than the man-hours consumed prior to using Veeam.
Ironically, one of our Microsoft consultants in a routine call reminded us that Microsoft is in now way responsible for data loss, and that perhaps we should invest in Veeam. Only took that nugget of knowledge to get us going.
I find it very intuitive. More so than most "new things" and it just works. What else can one ask for?
Accidental deletions, yes. We had a user that for some reason did not have MFA enabled that got phished and their account compromised. The hacker set up rules to permanently delete inbound email, etc. [We were] able to get that rectified quickly.
We use restore to .pst, restore to original location AND restore to another mailbox targeting a newly named sub folder.
I definitely like the ability to restore all or part of a mailbox to another mailbox and have all that put to a new sub folder. I use this all the time when transitioning employees. The search works very well, and I have used that often. Yes, this stuff comes with data ingress and egress charges, but you have to consider the time is money rule and just consider it worth the price.
We base our Office 365 at the most centralized location of the UK, and thus chose to use also Azure services in the UK. In this manner, everything stays in the cloud, and works very quickly. The previous solution was also cloud based but geographically separated, so was very slow.
I haven't needed support since I set this up. As I recall, they walked me through this quickly. The fact that I barely even remember setting this up, only 1 year ago, clearly means it was very uneventful.
