Overall Satisfaction with Zoom
It is used across the institution. Originally purchased to support distance education in medicine; it has now expanded across the organisation for multiple uses.
- It just works
- Needs little support
- Allows a user to collaborate using a centrally supported tool that's so good they don't look for an alternative
- Some features that exist - users seem unaware of - not sure that's an HCI issue or just an awareness [issue].
- I surveyed users recently on what could be better and the only answer was auto transcription could be better especially with medical terms.
- It would be good if we could upload a dictionary of common specialist words.
- Less travel, users presenting at conferences using Zoom reduce carbon footprint
- More collaboration with research groups where participants are external
- Improved ease of use compared to Skype for Business that often had issues. Zoom just works.
- Microsoft 365 Business, Cisco Webex Teams (formerly Cisco Spark), Skype for Business (formerly Lync), Skype, BlueJeans and Avaya Scopia XT
Ease of use sort of like Skype but as a domestic product wasn't useful for the enterprise and Skype for Business was difficult to use for users with many failed conferences
