It's really user preference. Some people have been told by other colleagues that it's a great system to use so they want to go with that. There are other systems that do exactly the same thing. I have not found that 1ShoppingCart has any unique features that would lead me to persuade a client to use it over another one. I usually have clients look at two or three options and give feedback. Sometimes it comes down to monthly prices.

Brightpearl

Brightpearl is very well suited for small-medium companies that are growing quickly and need a way to improve their operational systems and functionality to handle increasing volume of orders. Particularly if you use multiple SKUs, sales channels, and/or warehouses, the features offered by Brightpearl are excellently well suited to handle these types of needs. I don't believe Brightpearl would be very applicable for very small companies with a small number of SKUs, as many of the features offered would be unnecessary and underutilized.

Pros

  • Email broadcasts are super easy with 1ShoppingCart
  • Affiliate set up and management is easy
  • Organizing Client Information.
  • Key component to a successful marketing campaign
  • Simplify the order process

Cons

  • I found their customer service team to be confusing with their responses and not as helpful as other products customer service teams. It can be frustrating to try to decipher their responses to more complicated questions and often felt a little 'annoying' whenever I needed to reach out.
  • When creating newsletters, I found the WYSIWYG (what you see if what you get) version of creating newsletters the formatting was almost always off which always resulted in needing to send tests to myself to fix the formatting because it never showed up as it would look when it was sent. That took a lot of extra time to edit.
  • Lots of different options with reports, as a beginner you may need someone else to support you. In the beginning I needed support from other team members in how to understand and create certain reports. Not the most intuitive and user friendly until you understand what you're doing!
  • Inventory management.
  • Purchasing.
  • Filtering for orders.

If I were in charge of the renewal decision I would really take a look at 1SC vs. Infusionsoft. There are many ways each are great and many ways they are different. I would look at what was best for my company and make the choice accordingly. I find that Infusionsoft has many more ways to intuitively market, segment and cultivate new leads and grow the business as a whole than 1SC currently has.

Brightpearl can be a little confusing to begin with, there are a lot of options to look through and working out the intricacies takes some time depending on what you would like to be able to do on it and what your account is set up to do. It is however very thorough and once you can work your way around it most of the functions are fairly simple to use and very detailed.

Brightpearl is always easily accessibly anywhere that you can find an internet source. I have checked our stock levels when we have been off site at Ham Rally's at home and on my way home or to work if needs be. That is probably one of the best features of this system.

Brightpearl performs very well and integrates very well with our Metapak packing and despatch system. IT also intergrates very well with Amazon and we have used Ebay although there have been complications with Ebay and stock levels. We use Ebay mostly for second hand items of which we only have one so have skipped using Brighpearl for these products.

The few times I have spoken with the Brightpearl support team they were very helpful and very quick to answer any of the questions I had. They worked quickly and efficiently to solve any of our problems to get us back to working, generating new sales and moving product out the door.

The online training was very helpful in the areas we were shown and was implemented very well via a Skype call and an presentation done via the internet. However it was not thorough enough for all of our needs in certain areas. More training in person on site would have been very helpful.

I wasn't central to the implementation, but was integral to the data component. There is a pretty steep learning curve to the software, and it takes a while until it becomes second nature. Once it does, it becomes invaluable. We were given an implementation specialist who was there for the whole process, and that was necessary. Getting our products properly uploaded took a lot of background work, but not very much effort once it was formatted and consolidated properly. I can't speak for the initial set up of banking, warehouses, channels, or software connections, but maintaining and adding to them is very easy.

Alternatives Considered

1ShoppingCart is the best solution for entrepreneurs who need a shopping cart solution. It is much easier to manage than Infusionsoft. The price point is much less than Infusionsoft. I recommend anyone considering Infusionsoft have a dedicated expert in that program on their team because of it's complexity. 1ShoppingCart does not require this because it is more user friendly
We have not used any other inventory systems. Before we had Brightpearl, we kept track of inventory via Microsoft Excel sheets. BrightPearl is a vast improvement to our old system.

Brightpearl works fairly well under high stress conditions, we can have multiple people using the system at once in several different ways and this allows us to complete all of the running of the business smoothly. Sales can be put into the system while the despatch team prepares the goods to be sent out, and the accountants check and process payments while management sees to ordering in new stock swiftly.

  • Brightpearl allowed us to cut costs and run more efficiently. We no longer needed a data entry person. Automation of processes allowed most of us in the office to focus on sales and growth instead of being tied up with paperwork.
