Crownpeak DXM is particularly well suited to Customer centric, CX Driven digital implementations. It has plenty of 'out the box' features which we use on a regular basis with our clients, but it also acts like a headless CMS with the ability to share content across different platforms and integrate with 'best of breed' CRM, PIM, Commerce tools for example. We work closely with Crownpeak to scope and define CX driven solutions for our clients, and it's especially useful when we need to be interoperable with other systems and tools in the customer communications and digital business toolkit. We've used it in B2C commerce situations, in B2B closed environments, and with brands with large volume product inventory management.

Salesforce Community Cloud

Community Cloud is the perfect tool for people that are looking for a solution where they can create a web portal that is integrated with their existing Salesforce data and want to make some of that data available and interactable for people that doesn't really require a Salesforce user license, whether they are customers, employees or the general public. As a standalone product without integration to the Salesforce ecosystem, it really doesn't make sense as a regular web portal presents itself as a better option.

  • It has a lot of features baked in that are ready to go out of the box which should satisfy most use cases.
  • It can be relatively easily customized to meet the individual needs of a company without giving too much ability to poorly build it.
  • Integrates well with the rest of an existing Salesforce org if you have one.
  • Users will already be familiar with the UI if they're using Salesforce for other reasons.

  • Initial setup is a nightmare, and pretty much impossible without an expensive professional services engagement or an outside consultant.
  • It is difficult to create personalized content, and the module is not particularly robust, at that.
  • The user interface is extremely confusing for business users, and time-to-productivity is high.

  • None that come to mind - integrations, experience, and use is great! However, if you're trying to learn it yourself, you may benefit from consulting an expert. Or, if you're wondering if it's good for you, a business analysis will suit you well before you implement to save yourselves, time, money, efforts, and even people.

It allows us to build custom components and templates for our community that increases the overall usability and adoption of the tools we put out for our customer. With the addition of Lightning as a framework to the platform, we have a modern set of tools to facilitate this.

The support we receive is great. Our inquiries are responded to very fast, and we have had no turnover on our account for nearly 5 years which is almost unheard of. This means our support team has a lot of domain knowledge and familiarity with our unique set up making troubleshooting and break/fix inquiries fast and easy.

As for the development teams simplistic approach gives the developers the flexibility to implement their code rapidly with the use of component based templates. The CMS is easy to set-up and can be ready within a few weeks compared to months in a traditional WCM. User configuration, roles and managing access is smooth; active directory configuration allows users to access the platform with their corporate credential which is a simple set-up.

The only other software which I know that is similar would be the social software from Jive. We chose not to go with Jive because Salesforce Communities has a more reputable and well known product. The cost was definitely higher but the sales and service support have been great so far

  • I'm pretty sure it raises our back-end development costs by making the development process (of creating input forms and producing outputs from the content) more complicated and painful than it needs to be.
  • It helps lock our clients in to us because not a whole lot of agencies have Crownpeak expertise.
  • It helps our clients not have to deal with their own IT teams, which they tend to dislike working with.
