What is Seismic Learning?

Seismic Learning (formerly Lessonly, acquired by Seismic in August 2021) is training software with an ecosystem of partners, strategy and services that are aligned under the mantra of Do Better Work.

The vendor has worked with over 800 companies to help them train their teams. The vendor says they've learned that the highest performing organizations build their training on the same six pillars:

  • Assess (Gather Needs & Inputs) Listen to people, data, and the market; identify successes and challenges; and accurately assess your sales team's training needs.
  • Plan (Prioritize for Impact) Identify the most essential objectives and outcomes, and intentionally set milestones for creation and delivery.
  • Build (Create Quickly & Collaboratively) Work with teammates at the front lines of the business to develop and iterate on bite-sized training/content.
  • Learn (Meet Learners Where They Are) Push training content to teammates-- anywhere, anytime-- so they can quickly solve problems in their moment of need.
  • Practice (Rehearse, Refine, Repeat) Reinforce skills and information with realistic practice scenarios and receive feedback to fuel improvement.
  • Perform (Doing Better Work) Empower the organization to continuously improve, deliver and quantify results.

Seismic Learning ultimately aims to help organizations to achieve faster onboarding, higher NPS score, more closed deals and a superior customer experience.

Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

We use Skilljar for our external LMS. I found that Skilljar was less user friendly than Lessonly. Lessonly has proven to be much easier to use on the backend and that was the main reason we went with them instead of just using Skilljar for our company LMS.

We looked at a few other companies, including Trainual, when we realized we needed a LMS. We liked that Lessonly was local, and we invited them in. We were very impressed with their product and their culture and did not think twice about partnering with them. We were so impressed that we really didn't demo any other software -- just surface-level research.

We used WorkRamp previously with docs from our Google Drive. Our CSM was non existent. It was too basic for what we wanted to do with Training and we weren't getting the support we needed. It could have been that they were a startup too and also focusing on growing pains but it felt like they were too focused on bringing on new customers rather than focusing on existing.

Lessonly for Learning!

We scouted a few other bigger name LMS systems. We were new to having any kind of onboarding/training software and others were overwhelming. Lessonly is simple, easy to adopt, and a great knowledge database. Others were not as user friendly. I firmly believe you get what you pay for.

  • Bridge
Bridge is a great platform and it looks really nice; however, when we did user testing with managers and sales reps, they did not feel like the platform was intuitive enough for their needs. Navigating where to go was a bit of a challenge, whereas with Lessonly, they were able to navigate the platform with no training. Also, Bridge onboards you and then leaves you to figure things out on your own. If you're someone who wants to work with a vendor as a partner, Bridge is not it.

We have not used a tool like Lessonly before. Previously we did mainly in-person training or coaching. With Lessonly, we are able to decrease the amount of manpower it takes to improve our employees' scores. Using Lessonly has been very beneficial to our training program and overall office. I would recommend Lessonly to anyone who facilitates training.

We selected Lesson.ly because the practice scenarios were key for our onboarding program. This was the only platform that offered that. It also has integrations with more of the products we already use, including Salesforce, Slack and Google Suite. This made it easy for us to ramp up with a very small learning curve.

We looked at a variety of learning tools. Many were not as user friendly as Lesson.ly, or were designed for bigger accounts (and therefore we were sort of ignored by the sales teams!). In the end, we needed something that was modern and allowed us to push out our custom training to our team and track the completion rates. Lesson.ly was easy to use, with great customer service, and was a fair price.

Lesson.ly is ahead of the competition in terms of ease of use, ease of setup, quality of support, and in features. One thing it could have is the course marketplace and 3rd party integrations, which it is currently lacking. Its social learning aspects are still uncovered and the mobile app is non-existent but hopefully those will be live soon.

Great training tool

Overall, Lesson.ly is a great tool, especially for training. Of the similar programs I have used, Lesson.ly is the most user-friendly. We have several members of our team who create lesson.lys, and it isn't a platform that requires a lot of training to utilize, which is great. Although, it doesn't have the customization of other programs, such as Typeform, but it's still a great addition to our organization.
