Since we have the luxury of enough on and off-site storage we seldom use this feature and to improve speed and lower potential overhead of compression. By default, it's set to none or low. Therefore, I don't have enough experience to comment on the performance and use of this feature.

The compression feature has helped us a lot. We have a lot of clients that don't have much storage space (when they choose to backup locally). This compression feature Vembu offers helps us backup their important data and at the same time, not take up too much of their space.

Currently the amount of storage i have available is fairly limited. Having built-in compression means that I can ensure that I don't sacrifice usable storage for the safeguarding of critical infrastructure, even in a testing environment

Yes, really we have benefited from this, as I mentioned earlier, the built-in compression feature helps reduce storage space which will be a boon for us with limited storage space. We can meet our backup needs. We are not using encryption as it may reduce the backup speed.

VembuHIVE performs reasonably well, however, I do not believe it is working on the scale of other compression or Deduplication programs.

I am running Deduplication on the same volume Vembu is compressing and it is cutting another 30% off the total storage size.

With frequent update releases, I am confident that Vembu will continue to improve their compression implementation.
