Overall Satisfaction with ADP Workforce Now

[It’s being used for] basic payroll and some HR applications. We are not using ADP's Time and Attendance at the moment but did use Benefits for the 2015 tax year. If it were up to me, we would still be using Benefits. ADP helps payroll practitioners with upcoming tax and law changes and makes most of the payroll process from paying the employees to paying the IRS worry-free. It is especially helpful in my state, Pennsylvania, where local earned income taxes can get quite tricky. I would not want to do payroll in my state without ADP.
  • Handling taxes. I have never had a complaint from an employee or a taxing entity about not getting paid right, or on time.
  • The guidance. ADP's templates guide you through the new hire, leave of absence, and termination processes. While there is always more that could be covered, ADP does a very comprehensive job of reflecting the status of employees and the ramifications of changes.
  • The Client Services. Any problem whatsoever, ADP will help you though it. Always friendly, informative, and accurate.
  • I would love to see a code or a more specific description in the Workforce Now application that ties to ADP Reporting. I want to be able to look on a page in workforce now, find the information I want to see in a report, and make the report myself without having to fight through tons of tabs and options in the descriptions in reporting.
  • I would like to see ALL information available in Workforce Now be available in reporting. For example Box 1 W-2 amounts can be seen, but cannot be put into a report.
  • I would like to see more optional screens in the New Hire templates. For example, once I have completed the new hire template, I then have to go back into Workforce Now for that employee and insert his status flags in additional fields. I also have to go into the employment profile and insert the work schedule information and the credited service date.
  • I can provide almost any information needed in regards to payroll. I run and download files regularly so managers can tell which employees are assigned to which cost centers.
  • My manager, the costing accountant, hardly has to pay attention to payroll because of its ease of use and accuracy. This makes him available for other pertinent matters.
  • To me, the cost of ADP is negligible in comparison to the savings in manpower of a non-automated payroll administration.
I could not even imagine the time it would take to process payroll without ADP. If our cost accountant had to file all of the taxes himself, he would not have time to take care of production, inventories, or payables. Just the few minutes it takes to run a report and give that information to whomever needs it is a miracle. I recently needed information not included in an ADP report and it took me 2 days to gather it! I am glad I don't have to do that all the time.
We have not evaluated any other payroll products in recent years, mostly because we see the value in ADP. Personally, I couldn't bring myself to trust in another payroll company as much as I do ADP. Our company was recently purchased by another company and there was some debate about using an AS400 system for the payroll. It was thankfully decided that we, as well as all other recently acquired companies, could stay with ADP if we were already on it. That was a real fear for me to go to a payroll system without the support of ADP. I recommend ADP within the corporation whenever possible.
Everyone in Pennsylvania, Ohio, or any other state that has local earned income taxes should use ADP. To try to take care of all those taxing agencies on your own would be insane!
The only time Workforce Now may not be appropriate is if the company is very small and has a tax expert doing their payroll. If the cost of ADP was so great that it would not be financially feasible then ADP may not be appropriate.
