Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

We currently use BigCommerce for our eCommerce website. It is not being used across the whole organization. It is managed separately from our brick and mortar store and our other online marketplaces. With online shopping growing every year, BigCommerce allows us to adapt to the times and offer the same products to our customers wherever they choose to shop.
  • The integrations with other apps and services are very nice. There is a wide selection to choose from to accomplish almost anything.
  • We have a managed account and our account manager has always been receptive of our concerns and addresses them immediately. He has participated in support calls to ensure we get the service we expect.
  • The built-in customizations on BigCommerce are robust and allow you to potentially build a website without hiring a developer.
  • We have a connection with Channel Advisor. The quality of the connection is extremely poor. This seems to be primarily attributed to the feed coming from BigCommerce and the format of the content. We have several occasions where a product that is in stock and available is not visible on the storefront and therefore not available for purchase. This issue has never been resolved.
  • When it comes to connecting to platforms like Google Analytics and Google Ads, we have had issues with product data not coming through correctly, again because of the format of the content on BigCommerce.
  • We have not yet experienced any return on investment with BigCommerce. Fitting the platform into our routine has proved difficult and the constant API issues with BigCommerce has drastically slowed our growth rate.
We already have a very large catalog, but we have not been able to pull in the traffic to the site that we expected. Honestly, we are using other resources that integrate with BigCommerce, not BigCommerce itself, to scale our business. Scaling the business for a business that is already at our size is rather difficult. We do millions on Amazon and our BigCommerce website won't even break 100,000 this year, and it's our second year on the platform.
We have integrations with Channel Advisor, ShipStation, SearchSpring, Stamped.io, Social Intents, MailChimp, Sales & Orders, and Google Analytics. Without these integrations, our website would be doing next to no business. These integrations are crucial for us to do any business on BigCommerce. However, the quality of the connections is spotty especially with Channel Advisor which then, in turn, affects all the other connections. We have had issues were a number of our products are not visible on the website because the API connection between Channel Advisor and BigCommerce is faulty.
We tested our Shopify before switching to BigCommerce. The main reason behind our decision was the limitations of variant listings on the Shopify platform. BigCommerce allows for more variants in a product group. We also went with BigCommerce because we were hiring a developer to customize the site and they recommended BigCommerce.
BigCommerce is well suited for smaller vendors who own their own brands. As a retailer, we do not have our own branded product and therefore need to adhere to many different companies policies regarding advertising and pricing. If you have a large selection of products with lots of variations like we do, you will probably experience issues.
