Finding the next major gift with NXT.

In my role, I use NXT to both prospects for major donors and assist the gift officers in the cultivation of their portfolios. When prospecting for major donors, I use NXT's Lists and Rating functions as well as its integration with ResearchPoint to monitor gift postings from high-capacity donors. As I verify the wealth ratings from NXT and ResearchPoint, I use the Notes and Prospect Management modules to record research and mark donors for inclusion in the prospect pool. NXT's Actions module allows me to assign prospect qualifications to Major Gift Officers and provides for our communication about the engagement. Finally, I use the Custom Fields module to record benchmarks in order to track the return on our investment in the prospecting program. When assisting the gift officers, I use NXT to set up a process for submission and tracking of research requests. The research is recorded in the Notes module of NXT. Each of the gift officers also receives a hyperlink to a customized Action list which includes their prospecting assignments.

Although I previously didn't use NXT's analysis, I began to experiment with the inclusion of its Wealth Ratings and have been please with the results. The NXT results have identified prospects that the other data points might not have uncovered. In the following year, I expect to broaden my use of NXT analytics to include experiments with donor classification and future ask amounts.
