Overall Satisfaction with ClickUp

Microline primarily uses Clickup for two purposes - ad hoc task tracking and lightweight project management. Currently, the tool is in use within the Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Research and Development, Program Office, Finance, and Marketing functions, with discussions of adopting it for all functional areas. The primary driver for adopting ClickUp was to provide transparent tracking of open actions across and within functions.
  • Task tracking is excellent.
  • The functionality for recurring tasks is sophisticated and effective.
  • Creating custom views of task lists in various presentations (list, Kanban board, Gantt chart) is easy.
  • Permissions setup is flexible.
  • For the project management use case, the ability to import from Microsoft Project including task dependencies would be very helpful.
  • In general, the user interface for project management in the Gantt chart view is more cumbersome than the rest of the interface.
  • Tasks versus reminders don't have a clear differentiated use case.
  • ClickUp has facilitated productivity and reduced stress for me and my team.
  • Compared to other enterprise task management tools, the cost per user is quite low.
Managing projects and tasks is significantly easier when the management occurs in ClickUp. Even simple recurring reminders like approving timesheets on Mondays are very helpful and reduce simple mistakes and omissions. The ability to generate a full, recurring series of events like a month-end accounting closure process has helped that team improve the time to close significantly.
At this point, we have not fully integrated ClickUp across all functions, so I can't speak to this directly.
ClickUp wins against these alternatives primarily because of lower cost and higher simplicity. Creating a task takes a few clicks, and the only remotely complex decision is which task list to connect. The flexibility, solid mobile app, and ability to tailor the task structure to specific needs are standouts, as is the recurring task functionality.

Would you buy ClickUp again?

Yes

ClickUp is excellent for implementing a Getting Things Done system to track personal action items, and extends well to tracking actions at a team level. The ability to have a daily dashboard of open tasks is invaluable, and the ease of collaboration across and within teams is some of the best I've seen in this type of tool. In particular, the ability to set and monitor recurring tasks at a wide variety of frequencies is extremely helpful and a differentiator for ClickUp.

Where ClickUp still falls a bit short is for enterprise project management. The tool is very close to being able to tackle this task, but the limited user interface for project planning holds it back.
