Overall Satisfaction with Concur Travel and Expense

About five years ago, my company replaced PeopleSoft 9.1 Expense with Concur. Concur had many features that were missing or unsatisfactory with PeopleSoft. In particular, we chose Concur because it was more user-friendly, intuitive and integrated with travel booking service. Concur also has mobile app which is very easy to use.
  • Intuitive user interface; good training and lots of help information are easily accessible.
  • Easily upload receipts and link to expense lines. User can take photo of a receipt and upload into his account.
  • Integration with ERP (during implementation) can be tricky, especially when the project manager on Concur side happens to be less than customer focused (that was the case with our implementation).
  • Implementation was more difficult than it needed to be because Concur's project team was only available remotely. We had to rely on documentations to understand all the technical details so there were lots of challenges because everything was new to us.
  • Saves time submitting expense reports. Employee complaints and issues have been minimal.
  • I can't speak for the ROI in terms of cost since I don't have visibility on that. But based on employee satisfaction, i.e., less complaints from users, increased employee productivity seems to be worth it.
Concur is more modern, up-to-date solution than PeopleSoft 9.1 Expense module that we used previously. Rather than upgrade PeopleSoft in order to get better functionalities and mobile app, we went with Concur.
We integrated Concur with Workday for employee data feed. For financial data, i.e., departments, accounts, project teams and approvers, approver limits, we integrate with Oracle Financials Cloud. These integrations enabled us to not have to manually maintain any data in Concur. Source of truth for user and other data are in Workday and ERP.
Concur has helped our user base to be very satisfied with submitting expense reports. It also has lessened workload on the accounts payables department.
High employee satisfaction and easy to maintain the account in Concur. From admin perspective, whenever we run into integration issues, it does take some effort to figure out the root cause. However, it does get easier once you master the system, but in the beginning it can be challenging. Concur does have good help support, much better than Oracle Support or Rimini Support, from my experience. However, Concur's implementation team was less than idea in terms of helping to navigate through all the new information that needed to be understood during implementation.
Concur is a good solution for any size company, but for large companies it seems to be an excellent travel expense solution. It is easy to maintain from administrator's point of view and there are enough tools and functions that make account maintenance almost painless. We found that auditing feature within Concur is very helpful to the accounts payable department since the heavy lifting of validating expense submission is taken care of by Concur.
