Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize GoTo Meeting as a VoIP provider and utilize it for our internal and external meetings and video conferencing. We do not use the messaging feature. We use the soft phone on the computer, we have a desktop physical phone, we have the cell phone app, and some of us even use the call forwarding.

Pros and Cons

Calls are clear
Once the meeting is started, the video conferencing are generally smooth as long as the internet connection is good.

The desktop app is clunky.
Takes a long time to load.
Makes you re log in every hour or so
When loading the video meeting, it takes a long time to establish a connection
virtual video backgrounds don't look great or smooth
phone app is also clunky and takes a long time to load

Return on Investment

Not a lot of other companies utilize GoTo Meeting, so when I have to schedule a meeting with them, I obviously use the program that my company pays for (GoTo Meeting). By doing that, the other company has to download the software and a lot of times other people aren't technically savvy to make it work. So the less interaction with the user the better. There are far better programs that companies utilize that are a lot more intuitive. OR other people are just more comfortable with other programs. I think it's a little of both, but mostly the former.

GoTo Meeting is in the middle of the pack. The reason we utilized GoTo Meeting is because it was originally Jive. Jive was in our backyard, we knew the owner. When it was Jive, it worked great. We helped contribute to the jive applications, we used it for free for them and we provided valuable feedback and product enhancements and ideas to improve. Once it was bought by LogMeIn or GoTo, it severely decreased in value and quality. My organization has been looking to change for a while, and unfortunately because it works well enough, we haven't made the jump. We know there are better products out there but we also are a reseller of it and get great commissions due to our early adoption, etc.

Likelihood to Recommend

GoTo Meeting isn't a bad solution. But GoTo Meeting is also not a good solution. The issue is there are so many different types of vendors that do the same thing as GoTo Meeting. Most of the time they will be competitive, but in my experience, other vendors are more willing to lower price in order to help close the deal. Not only that, most other providers have a smoother app on the desktop and phone.
