Overall Satisfaction with IBM FileNet Content Manager
It is being used, primarily, as an electronic file cabinet for legacy documents. It is used in support of administrative departments (HR & procurement) and allows for immediate access to legacy content.
- Encryption at rest
- Taxonomy
- Security
- Difficult to upgrade
- Sometimes hard to get modules to work together
- Content Navigator is better than the old Workplace, but it is also looking dated.
- Positive in that we don't need to store the legacy paper
- Negative in that it is expensive to maintain
- Negative in that IBM has, until recently, lacked a vision for where ECM would continue to fit.
FileNet v ApplicationXtender
FileNet - much more robust.
ApplicationXtender - far more lightweight, easier to deploy and configure. Much more limited in scope.
