Overall Satisfaction with Linode

Linode is always our first choice for deployment for internal and product services as well as marketing websites, etc.

We use it to run several customer facing web applications as well as some internal tracking tools.

We also host our database instances on Linode hardware.
  • Support is VERY responsive and helpful
  • The site documentation is great in helping get set up and secured
  • Maintenance tasks are always well communicated
  • Lacking a managed database solution (Postgresql)
  • VPN solution for hybrid cloud solutions
  • CDN hosting solution
  • Straight forward and predictable pricing is massive for us
  • Hardware scaleability and size options save massive costs for on prem hardware costs
  • Incremental improvements to the platform are well documented and solid
I like the control that Linode gives over the alternatives to make sure your system does what you need and doesn't require complicated pricing schemes or integration times.
The handful of times we have required support for Linode, they have always been top notch in terms of short response times and knowledgable staff that are willing to work with you no matter your level of expertise with Linux to make sure your issues are addressed.

We have always been well supported here and support has even pro-actively reached out when one of our services was experiencing issues.
The value Linode provides is huge. The reliability, documentation and straightforward UI is great and the pricing is great to help you spin up all kinds of small services or test systems for proof of concept before spending a lot of time in configuration and service integrations.

The barrier to entry for getting something running is significantly reduced by Linode.
In our 8-9 years experience with Linode, the reliability has been great. I can only think of a single time we had any disruptions (which I think was due to some sort of DDOS or DNS attack) and the maintenance windows have been provided with plenty of advanced notice.

We have several services that need to continuously run and have had no issues with reliablily.
Linode is great if you want full control over your server instances and not have to worry about the complex configuration and integration that is necessary with the other cloud service providers.

The pricing is very straight forward so it makes it easy to predict your month-to-month costs.

The only reason to turn to other cloud service providers would be if they offer a functionality not available (or easily integrated) on Linode or if you need robust dynamic scalability (Linode may have some solutions for this, but I haven't experience using them).
