Overall Satisfaction with Mailchimp
We have implemented MailChimp for many clients who aren't yet ready for a full-on CRM. The core functionality in terms of email marketing, basic list segmentation and basic functionality makes it an ideal starter system for clients, or for those who don't need a really robust suite of tools. What is there is fully functional and user-friendly.
- Easy to create attractive mailers within a relatively simple framework
- Basic automations are extremely easy to create
- Quite user-friendly for people who have limited marketing experience
- Easy search functionality and basic segmentation
- Though easy to create, it's difficult to create truly customized mailers unless you're uploading HTML which is too fiddly
- The email reporting isn't particularly robust
- There are loads of features, but other email marketing and automation platforms do them better
- The pricing can be a bit deceptive, and become steep very quickly
- Not very intuitive
- Allowed us to sell email marketing to clients who didn't want to shell out for another CRM
- Easy to create relatively attractive, simple emails
- Relatively simple to report on email performance to clients
MailChimp is definitely more robust than some of the simpler email tools like EmailOctopus and MailerLite, though it doesn't stack up to other email marketing and automation systems.
MailChimp has all the basic functionality one would expect from an all-in-one marketing platform but none of the features are robust enough for us to recommend it over other platforms to our clients. While it is relatively cheap if you have a small database, and great if you only want to send relatively simple email newsletters and do basic automations, especially for ecommerce, but for experienced marketers, the feature set just isn't robust enough. Definitely great as an intro platform
MailChimp is very cheap for small databases, but costs rise quickly the more contacts you have. There are loads of features, but I feel like it's quantity over quality - while the features are there, they are rather shallow.
