Overall Satisfaction with PagerDuty

We use PagerDuty for mission-critical alerting of monitored IT systems, as well as for dial-in emergencies initiated by users. It replaced an actual physical pager several years ago and has been fantastic. We no longer need to swap a pager or phone among techs and escalation policies prevent things from falling through the cracks.
  • Allows notifications to be sent to desired teams.
  • Much more reliable than a pager.
  • There is no way to temporarily suppress notifications in the phone app.
  • Less expensive than a physical pager.
  • More reliable than a physical pager.
Compared to the old physical paging system, PagerDuty has been extremely reliable. We have not noticed any downtime, nor have we ever missed a page, unlike when we had a physical pager. Escalation policies prevent a single point of failure.
PagerDuty integrates with Microsoft Teams to provide another notification path that can be used during standard business hours.
Analytics are fantastic. We have had one incident where a user at a customer was not happy with the response time. From the analytics, we were able to determine that a response was prompt and exceeded SLAs.
We looked at OpsGenie. At the time of the selection, PagerDuty seemed the more robust solution.
Onboarding was a breeze!
